When to get baby teeth removed by vet Hobbs is almost 7 months old now. He had some baby teeth pulled when he was neutered, but since then, more adult teeth have grown in without the baby teeth falling out. So, my question is, when should I get these other baby teeth removed?? How long can the baby teeth stay in there before it becomes harmful to the dog? Thus far, the adult teeth are not even loose! But, I don't want to pay to have him put to sleep and the teeth pulled only for more adult teeth to grow in and have others that need to be pulled! Or, I feel like if I wait awhile, they baby teeth might fall out. What should I do?? Go ahead and have them pulled, or wait awhile? Thanks in advance for your advice! |

They were the four canines and they were right on top of each other. According to the article I probably should have done it a little sooner, but anesthesia is always a risk to consider. |

Just Had This Problem... Funny you should ask! My 7 1/2 month little girl just had 16 toofers removed just last week. For some reason NONE of her baby teeth fell out or became loose. She looked like a shark with two rows of teeth, both upper and lower before the extractions. Our Vet advised it is best to have the teeth removed sooner rather than later to avoid the probability of infection between the teeth. My Vet used gas rather than IV for the procedure and she was up and eating as nothing happened the very same night. So, please don't wait too long... You'll both feel better in the end! :aimeeyork |
Wait and See! My male Artie is now exactly 2 yrs./3 months old, just a month ago he lost his last baby tooth by natural causes. I'm no expert but I was told by my Breeder that Yorkie's are a high risk when they have any kind/type of "Operation". Since I never planned on getting him "Fixed", he would have had to have Surgery, specifically for the removal of his baby teeth, not to mention it is expensive. It did take a while but it did eventually come out on it's own. I do brush his teeth everyday and have been since he was a puppy, so he does have extra strong and bright white adult teeth. :aimeeyork I guess I would do what ever I thought was best at the time? It depends on the individual circumstances? Good Luck! |
Itzi had 15 double teeth that needed to be removed at 7.5 months. He wasn't able to chew anything and he was starving; the vet also said it would affect his bite permanently if we delayed much later. |
