Oh my goodness.. ...my heart is beating so fast. I just made an appointment with a lady to go see her pregnant yorkie and take her a deposit if I am interested!!!! I can't believe I did it!!! I am so afraid to make a mistake! She charges 800+ for her babies. More if they are tiny. They are raised in her house with her family. She has two litters due in May. |
How exciting! I'd wait until the pups were born at least if you want to do the deposit. JMO. |
So exciting!!!! If she lives close, go by and see her. You will be able to get a good idea of the conditions the puppies are raised in. I think that if you feel comfortable with the breeder and the surroundings, then it would be fine to put down a deposit. Let's be real....you're going to love the puppy no matter what it looks like!!!!! I think the main thing is to be comfortable with where the puppy is born and how it is cared for before you get it. Ask the breeder lots of questions, and if you feel comfortable, then put down a deposit! |
i would not give her a deposit right now. Anything can happen. My husband doesn't take deposits on his beagle puppies until they are about four weeks old and even then, we have had to give one or two deposits back. Mom laid on the pup or something similair. |
How exciting. I bet you are going crazy with anticipation. I can see charging less for an oversized pup, but not paying more for an undersized one. they are so much more fragile, with more health problems and shorter life expectancy. I'd go for just a standard sized one from 4 to 7 pounds. Good luck and keep us updated. |
I bet you are very excited! But if I were you I would wait to see the pups before putting a deposit! |
Thanks Jeanie. I will not do anything if I feel any discomfort with the situation. If everything seems really good, I am going to take pics of the mama and daddy. She has both onsite. I guess in some situations, you just need to trust your gut. I have been searching for pups that will be ready in the summer as I cannot take one home until after I get back from vacation. The timing of the birth of these litters is perfect. We must just have a real shortage of yorkies in Indiana. She said they will be registered AKC and is it CKC, I can't remember. Once the babies are here, she said I can pick the one I want. She wasn't pushing for the deposit, but I am driving almost two hours and I thought I would pay it in person so I could also do the home visit. |
