Rubber bands and barrettes Hi Everyone, I put a really small rubber band in my Jaci's hair, {top of his head} and I was so worried that it hurt him that I took it out. He stood still for this, but after he kept shaking his head and trying to get at it. I am also worried that if I keep doing this he is going to go bald. I also tried some little barrettes and he shook them out. I took them away. And yes I know he is a boy but he looks soo cute I cant resist. So my question is will this cause baldness and is it hurting him? I did not put the band in to tight but he did start to struggle with me so I wrapped it really quickly. Thanks!! |
After I put my girls hair in rubber bands I always pull them loose a little so that I am sure that they are not tight! He is probably just not used to it and that is why he keeps trying to bother it and get it out! |
He'll get used to it and ignore it. My dogs did that when I first started putting their top knot in. They don't bother it anymore. Just don't pull it too tight where it's pulling his eyes into a different shape :D Post some pics so we can see the cutie!! Kim |
I don't tink so, they do it all the time. Are you using rubber bands or those new kind of bands. I thing they are acrylic. At first Ollie objected to them and the first two she rubbed until she got them out. Now she leaves them in. I want to let her top knot grow, but I have to keep the hair out of her eyes some way. The boy show dogs get bows in their hair. |
Thanks for the quick response! My husband is getting the camera now, I have still not posted any pics of Jaci yet. But will try, I need some help with it. And I will try the rubber bands again tomorrow. What kind of barrettes does everyone use? I am looking for some suggestions. Oh and by the way he wore his first outfit no problem! Did not care one bit. And seemed mad when I took it off. If is a little black sweater with leoperd collar. |
I used a rubber band once in Bailey's pony tail, and it seemed to pull when I took it out , so I haven't tryed since then.....I heard there is a band that is latex or something that is better for them, but I haven't been able to find them around here yet...I have also been looking for boy barrettes that will stay in. |

ooohhh....good idea, having 3 boys that is an area that I don't venture into often, thanks for the tip....be heading there this week. :) |
When I use the rubber bands on Gucci's hair I cut them off so I won't pull her hair. She still doesnt like it too much, but she doesnt pull at it anymore. ;) |
i think i may have that same sweater!! can you show it to us in one of the pics?? my boys throw fits when we try topknots so their hair is now too short for them lol. sry i cant help you much there but it looks like you got a lot of good tips! |
best elastic bands around! I buy these.... http://cgi.ebay.com/250-approx-TINY-...QQcmdZViewItem they are amazing and do not snag the hair like the traditional ones. This seller sells it in many color! They will try to get it off in the beginning... it is normal but as long as it is not pulled up tight.... you are fine! I girls and boys are in ponytails now! I think it is adorable! :) |
My mother bought the sweater in PetCo in Denver Co, she is here on a visit and just fell in love with Jaci. We have been to Walmart and in the baby dept where I found alot of nice blankets for him. But no t-shirts! All onsies and they were so cute. But I cant put them on him. What if he "goes" and they were so cheap to. Oh well, and sorry I dont have pictures yet! |

yorkie4me, MaeMae is just about the cutest little thing I've seen with her pigtails! How did you get her to keep them in? My Bentley always swats his right out and I've given up trying but now I am just going to have to try the pigtails! :p :aimeeyork |
omg, I did not even think of pigtails, soo cute. am going to try tomorrow. Jaci is sleeping. But I am thinking maybe I should try now while he is relaxed. He had 2 run arounds in our yard today so he should be calm. I am going to try again. Wish me luck!! |
