Interesting article on dog registries I hear the word 'registered' mentioned alot and I wondered how many registries for dogs there were in North America. I found this excellent article on nopuppymills.com that explains why there are so many. It also lists the names of some of the more popular ones used. http://www.nopuppymills.com/index.php?page=registries I guess if someone were buying a puppy that the breeder stated was 'registered', it's up to the buyer to find out which registry is being referred to....it saddens me that puppy mills or non-ethical breeders will attempt to make themselves look legitimate by using the word 'registered' 'Registered' does not always mean that the puppy comes from an ethical place. caveat emptor!! |
And here is the breed standard for many of them http://www.canadasguidetodogs.com/te...breedchart.htm |
thanks shelbysmom....interesting that the top ones are pretty similar...I'm looking up some of the others, most of whom I've never heard of before. Also a friend told me that there are many more than the 24 listed....I wonder how many? 'Registered IS such a b r o a d word!! |
