Breath Mints I sware he would eat the whole can if I let him. Do you any of you give your pup anything to help with their not so fabulous breath? I have the spray and he hates it. I have this other stuff that you put in the water and he won't drink it. So finally I found these breath mints and he loves them. They are big so I break it up with a pill crusher device and he cant lick the powder up quick enough. Hope this link works. http://animal-world.com/pups/shop.ph...nts_40_ct.html |
I give Bailey the little bisquits called " Breath Busters" they smell foul, but he likes them and they seem to work. |
I bought some of the Breath Busters- my dogs wouldn't touch them! (they will eat poo, dirt, a month old chip found under the couch- but not a breath mint?? ) I sometimes give them a Zip Zap, although I am not sure that these make any difference. The CET chews do seem to work pretty well, though. |
We don't use anything like that but had to share.... Stormie (our Australian Shepherd) LOVES peppermints. Just the little red and white candies. She gets them as special treats. It's pretty sweet to see her crunch it up.... and the smooches afterwards smell nice! ;) |
I wondered about peppermints...I have a friend who gives them to her dog for treats. Are they safe or can they cause problems? |
Princess loves mint! If he wants to eat the can, be really careful this Christmas! We found out they like candy canes too!!!! |
My Tiger gets a couple of tablets of the DDS Breath mints every night right after I brush his teeth . . he was having stinky breath for a while when we started loosing his teeth and sometimes bleeds a bit onto the toothbrush, but lately It has cleared and looks like he might have lost all of his baby teeth. . . he is back to his breath smelling great again! |

Sorry I didn't get back to this one..... Really, I don't know if peppermints are all that "safe" but Stormie is an Aust. Shepherd - not a real small dog - so they seem to be okay for her. She does actually crunch it up before swallowing it and it's not something we regularly give her - not even a daily thing. I wouldn't give one to Tatum (Yorkie) though. |
I'm afraid that "candy" (chewing totally sugary/peppermints especially) will probably cause a lot of tooth decay for your little pup. And - we know that Yorkies are especially (the worse) prone to having teeth problems. So - eating peppermints or other candy isn't a good solution....... They do have "sugarless" peppermints - they look the same and taste the same. These may be a better solution. I'd have to do some research on this before I could be sure though. Good luck!
