Mother not really eating **Help** Is it normal for the mother to eat lightly after pregnancy (4 days)? I have put turkey, chicken, canned food etc, and it just doesn't seem to entice her like it use to. She'll have a little here and there but it's just doesn't seem right. I was told she has to eat to produce milk. She also pants alot |
Have you tied boiling chicken and cooking rice and mixing them together and giving to her? Also here is a mixture you can give her if she doesn't have much milk for the babies. 4 cup size of vanilla instant pudding, mix with 1/2 cup sugar, 4 cups milk, and 4 egg yolks. Mix together and give to mom two times a day. Mine love in and it sure gives them plenty of milk. |
We've tried everything. I've boiled and baked the chicken and it worked in the beginning but now it doesn't. I even tried seasoning the chicken and she still won't eat. I don't know what happen. She's really not producing much milk and i'm concerned for the puppies and her. The mixture receipe that you provided, did you get that from a doctor? I'll give it a shot. And do you know why she pants so much? Thank you we will try anything right now. |
She could be getting too hot. But if I were you i'd take her in and have the vet check her out just to be safe. You don't want her getting depleted. You also can give her cottage chees, scrambled eggs, hamburger mixed with rice peas and carrots and make sure she is eating a good quality puppy food. Also make sure she is drinking plenty of water.. Are the pups gaining weight? That will let you know if they are getting enough. |
Make sure she has plenty of water. I would call my vet if she isn't making milk for the Puppies. Is she acting okay or is she showing signs of tiredness? |
A nursing mom should be taking in 2 to 3 times her normal intake. She might just have an upset stomach if she ate all the placentas. Are you weighing the puppies to see if they are gaining weight? This recipe is suppose to increase milk production. Mix vanilla instant pudding the 4 cup size with 4 cups milk, 4 egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar. Mix it all up and keep in the fridge. I would take her temperature. If it is 103.5 or higher it might indicate a uterine infection. There is so many things that could be wrong like still having a placenta, retaining a deceased puppy, low calcium, etc. |

If it were me, I'd take her right to the vets for a check up, could be something serious and to just procrastinate to what is wrong, I'd want to know right away what the problem is. Maybe your vet can do some tests and make sure its not life threatening whats wrong with her. Hope she's better soon, please let us all know. Thoughts and prayers your way. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |

What about boiled chicken and rice mixed together, or hamberger and rice but make sure there is no grease. If these things do not work get her to the vet or even maybe you should go ahead and get her to the vet now as it might be something I know nothing about. Good Luck. |
i would take her to the vet,its not good for the pups if there isnt enough milk and also if she isnt eating and shes painting she could have an infection. |
