Question about teeth!! Oliver has been acting SO weird lately- just sitting there crying at my feet (which he never does) and not napping as much and whining a lot! I wasn't sure what was wrong but today I got a good look at his mouth and he has a double set of front teeth!!! (I've seen other threads about baby teeth not falling out) But how long should I wait until I get his baby one's removed? It's just the two front teath so far but I feel sooo bad for him! Please let me know what you guys did! THank you! :animal-pa |
teeth How old is Oliver now? If he is 5 or 6 months, he is just starting to teethe..in that case I would wait a couple months...I am a strickler for removing puppy teeth asap..but if you are neutering him, it can be done at the same time. Best wishes |
Georgie is actually going next week to get neutered (God help me get through leaving him there) and getting a couple of teeth pulled. Not sure how long you should wait but I know Georgie is almost 11 months and all of his baby teeth should have fallen out by now. |
I played tug with Petey and his two extra teeth fell out on their own. My mom's dog had his removed when he was in for neutering. |
thanks everyone- he's about 5 1/2 months old and it was just a bit of a shocker and I was curious if it would cause damage to wait a little hiwle to see if any feel out on their own. THanks :) |
Poor little baby, I am sure it is uncomfortable. But I would wait a few more months and then have them pulled if they have not fallen out by then. This is very common in these little ones. |
If you get them neutered at six months that might be a little too early for baby tooth pulling. I don't think I even saw that double row of shark teeth until way after Debbie was spayed. When she had her next yearly checkup at 15 months or so, she only needed to have 2 pulled out. Tug of war might help loosen those stubborn baby teeth. What might be bothering him are the ones that you can't see yet. Some people like to freeze old wet rags for them to chew on to help make them feel better. |
p.s already fixed about two weeks ago- so he'll hafta go under again :( :( hoepfully they will fall out! Thanks everyone |
Missy is 6 months and she was spayed last Friday. She had 2 baby teeth pulled and also had the micro chip inserted. They gave her a pain injection before she left to come home. She did not need antibiotics nor pain pills once home. You just have to keep them from jumping up for several days. Since she had 2 teeth pulled, I haven't allowed her to chew bones, toys, etc. as the "hole" from the tooth has not fully healed. Good luck. |
At PetsMart, they have the cloth bones or the "Chill Bone" that you wet, put in a baggie and freeze. Missy loves these when she's teething. Just make sure you get something that's small enough they can get in their mouth. |
