yes more information is always helpful and you could very well be helping another person scanning posts. But, there is a way to help and then there is telling one something in a condecending manner. My whole point which was apparently lost on Lorraine ( seems to think everyone else is missing your point) is that if you are going to post a response to a persons question then do it in a way that is helpful to them and not in a manner in which comes across as trying to make them feel stupid or ashamed for ever having asked a question or made a comment to begin with. We should all remember that in many ways the way we raise or breed our yorkies differ from another person and that does not necessarily make either person right or wrong. Each has to find the way that works for them and their yorkie. Just like people each one has a different personality and different techniques work for them. I am not condoning or knocking anyones advice, you either choose to take it into consideration or not. And as I said my breeder has a wonderful reputation. But you are correct, some people breed for years and that does not mean that they are good at what they do. hhmmmm |

The title of the thread was "breeding ordeal" not "marking male". The poster commented that she is planning on neutering male (and spaying female) but she is feeling like this might be "wasting papers" I found this site with a very good discussion of the things one should consider before breeding. http://www.yorkie.org/breeders/breeding.html |
Way 2 go Shelby I think you shared that site with us on a thread...Was it u? Well either way that is a great site for everything...We should all enjoy it....For all purposes... Quote:

Thanks Everyone OKay. I didn't know starting a thread would lead to such upset. I do appreciate all the advice I received (although I feel that many of the postings were as if some of us were in a batting cage). I do appreciate all the response to this thread. Thank you again for all of your help. I am still undecided on this matter and hopefully I will come to a conclusion in the near future (prior to May 16th). I am leaning more towards the side of NOT breeding. I just love the furbabies so much that I just want to keep ALL of them around me. Sounds crazy, but I tend to be obsessive about things. Thanks again! |

As far as the "wasting papers" thing goes, I wouldn't think of it as that if you don't breed your dog. I had no intention of breeding Debbie. I knew she was going to be small and on our first vet visit was told that she had poor hip configuration and week back legs. Yet, I sent in my $15 to the AKC. I wasted my $15 as far as that goes. All kinds of dogs are AKC registered, yet they are far from good examples of their breeds. Those websites about the pitfalls of breeding are really eye opening. I ran into a woman at some dog rescue event who had gotten her poodle from a shelter but was planning to let her have that "one litter". The women there straightened her out in a hurry. She figured since it was a dog, that it was easy for them to give birth as nature takes care of it. |

Odiesmom stated that she was having problems dealing with her male marking, and was concidering both surgery and breeding. She was unsure of which she would like to pursue and what are peoples thoughts or suggestions on it. My only problem was the manner in which she was responded to was not needed. She was not asking permission to breed, just advice to decide one way or the other. Bottom line, before anyone posts to someones question like this, make sure you are being kind. |
