Showdog? Not for me. Im right there with the rest of you. My Penny is not a perfect showdog, and HEY would I want her to be... I think not. I couldnt let her get all dirty and wet in the sprinklers, and have poop on her hiny when she doesnt wipe good, and dont forget about all the money i would have to spend on keeping her show quality, not nearly the modest amount i spend on spoiling her with clothes and goodies... hehehehe . SHOWDOG!!! Not for me. I just want a cute, happy, affectionant, playfull yorkie. Thats all I ask for in my Penny. Vee, Your girls are showdogs of the backyard, My penny is showdog of the Motorhome. :) :) :) |
Yes, all Yorkies are cute whether they are show quality or far-from-its. And the Yorkies that own YT members are some of the luckiest Yorkies in the world. But.... I LOVE standard Yorkies. Even though I wouldn't want a show dog b/c of the work involved I appreciate the breed and what it is supposed to look like. The little prancers at the dog shows are adorable. Like cute little ponies. People that breed for that kind of quality have my respect and admiration. |
Sean also has floppy ears and is not tiny. He's definitely ALL YORKIE in his temperament. Other Yorkies I had were of different sizes. Bumpy had one ear that stood up straight and the other tended to flop. All perfect for me!! "Standard"...never could figure out what that meant. |
Hey if our dogs where show dogs they would not have so much fun!! With having to keep the weight down , wrapping up the hair, oh you can keep the supermodel yorkie life, I would much rather live the life that our little yorkies have ......Spoiled Rotten!!!and so Loveable |

What makes a Yorkshire Terrier a Yorkie? Their Heart! |
It reminds me of my first visit to the vet with Topher....I'd only had him less than 24 hours...he was 18 wks old and around 7 lbs (to me he was TINY compared to the terrier mix I'd lost in January who was 40lbs!!)...my vet's first words were 'OMG, he's HUGE!! I was shocked..."huge??" He was so tiny to me!! (she did say it lovingly, but I still was surprised!) Next was my trip to the groomer a couple of weeks later..."OMG, he's huge!!" from one of the girls who works there.... He's 8 lbs now at 6 mos. and to me he's still so tiny sometimes!! I just LOVE his little butt when it waggs (and the tail, too :)) He's my baby and I wouldn't have him any other way!! |
Here, here! Bobby is 9 1/2 pounds and I am SO glad! I think he's the perfect size for me and, beyond that, he's the best pal I could ever want! Julie |
I really have no idea of what the 'show standard' is. I'm sure Ella is far from it though. It would be kind of interesting to know though. All the yorkies I have met are so different. But every one is perfect in their own way... well mostly!! lol  |
Lololol  To all us penny pinchers...JUST THINK what your prized baby would have cost if it WERE show quality!!! WWWHHHHHOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!! Sticker shock galore! Neither one of my girls would ever make it to the ring, but I agree with all of you, don't they win all our heart's prizes though? :number1ri Dang, I have never loved a pet more than I love Wosie! :2hearts2: She is my best friend!! (don't tell my hubby I said that, lol):yorkiesar |
