Help Please!!!
 

Ok my Yorkie is now 4 months I have had her since she was 2 months but it has been cold and rainy so I havent tried potty trainning outside we have been doing well on the potty pad and she is normally confined to the exercise pen with potty pad at all times unless I am right with her. Well today we start spring break so I decided to crate train now that she is 4 months how often will I need to take her outside. How about the middle of the night I last feed her about 5:30 and take water away about 7:00 does this sound about right and she wakes at 6:00 any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated I hope it goes well :)

If she is doing well with the wee pads, I would stick with it. It seems like they get confused if we mix things up. Will she quietly stay in a crate?

If you are interested in getting her to potty outside you can do that and still work with the wee pads indoors. It's so nice having the wee pads as an option during bad weather.

I agree, I would not eliminate the wee pads all together. I would start moving them towards the door where you want her to go out. I would take her out every 2 hours if she goes when you are out. If she does not go, try again in 10 minutes. don't get frustrated, it takes time and patience. If she is good about the wee pads, then you are very lucky.

If I take my pup (7 months plus & when he was younger) outside every hour and a half to two hours, he almost never pees inside.

When he finally settles down for the night, I just put a belly band on him, and let him sleep away. Even with the belly band on - my pup, like a lot of pups, almost never pees during the night. But - it is definitely the right time to take him out when he first wakes up.

When it was colder (real winter - snowy and freezing ) -- I'd put a coat on him to go outside. But, now, even though it is wet, rainy, and cold, he doesn't need to wear a coat to go out for a few minutes.

I know pups are different, but mine has never minded going out in the cold. He loves being outside when it's snowing, freezing, raining - or whatever!
Last night, it was cold and rainy, and he definitely did not want to come back in. He fought me every inch of the way. I finally had to just pick him and carry him back into the house.

**** Also, I have really noticed that he can go longer without peeing now that he is a little older. He'll not pee (when he's confined in the kitchen while I work) for 6 or 7 hours sometimes.

BUT - I will admit that if I didn't take him outside often --he pee in the house. He sees nothing wrong with that! We're working on it!
