Has anyone ever given their baby anything for anxiety?
 
Because I tell ya, when we have anyone over the house, I swear Daisy is going to go into heart failure one of these times!

She gets SOO out of sorts...wants to be with me, yet I can't hold her the whole time, so she shakes uncontrollably, scurries around, pees all over...just out and out SO scared, anxious, etc..

Yet when I keep her secluded in my room...she gets very mad, she pees all over....

I know they sell stuff at the pet store to calm them, for anxiety, etc...

Any pros/cons on that??

I tried the anti-anxiety unit you plug into the wall and didn't notice a difference with Simon. But I think others have had success with it. Time was the only thing that worked for his anxiety. Good Luck

Puppy Prozac would be nice at a time like that huh? Oscar is just the opposite...he LOVES everybody...stranger or not...does not matter. Hope you can find a way to calm your baby tho...Maybe crate her before they get there in a quiet room with a favorite blanket and toy would work.

I do, Gracie is on Clomicalm for separation anxiety. It is not something that you give them every now and then, she takes it everyday.
My poor Gracie went threw a lot of heartache last year and on top of everything that happened she almost died (she was poisoned), the vet was very concerned so she decided to put Gracie on it for a trial period to see if it would help. One year later she is still taking it. She still has bad anxiety attacks but it is nothing like it was without the medication. You know the sound they make when they get hurt, well magnify that times 10 and that is what Gracie sounded like, before the med's, when we went anywhere near the door, she would yelp so bad that she would start choking and claw at my legs like she was drowning.....
Seriously, our was a very bad case, I would try the calming plug-in's or a stress relieving treat (they make chewy sticks) before looking into the medication.
PM me if ya want, I can give you a list of the stuff that we tried before the med's and where we got it at....

Poor Gracie!! I never heard of such a case. Something that was hard on my yorkie Ginger that passed this last summer at 15. When our daughter Sarah was murdered, not quite three years ago, Ginger went through a very bad time. She really went into a depression, I know a lot of it was her seeing us in such hell, but she really started to go downhill right then. And it was constant until we lost her this past summer. She was terrified that when I went out that door that I wouldn't come back. She and Sarah were very close. When I would leave she would pace, cry, shake and not rest until I walked back in that door. Poor little thing. She also, would go to the window every day for probably 4 months when it was time for Sarah to come home, then would come to me and cry needing to be picked up. Something else too. Some evenings, after I was in the bedroom reading or watching TV, Ginger would bark looking at the door then wag her tail and then lay in that sitting position when being pet. I swear to this day that she was seeing Sarah and being pet by her. You would have had to see it happen to understand it. :love: Cathe

I got a pamphlet from my vet on this medication and was wondering how well it worked. Thank you for posting this.

I need to do something...it can't be good for her to act this way, and it can be hard on us too (and the peeing all over the place when we have ocmpany and she's in my room is reallllly getting to us)
I had to shampoo my carpets today, so I put her in my bathroom with her pillows, water, etc...
I ran to the store (wasn't in there a whole hour) and she peed and pooped on the floors!!!

So Im sure she's upset over the whole thing..but this can't keep happening.

I want a playful doggie who interacts and mingles..not one who is TERRIFIED of EVERYTHING!

Now I know she's only been with us 6 months...but i would think she should be a LITTLe more socialized by now!

I would certainly discuss your problems with a vet and see if there isn't anything that can help her stay calmer. Being this way, certainly can't be a pleasant way for her to live.

Also - socialization for her - may need to be done in a more controlled - calmer and slower way. I don't know how you're going to manage this, but it does sound like company gets her going.

But - anyway - perhaps a medication and a more controlled environment may help her.

This post reminds me of a toy poodle I had years ago. She was also stressed when I left. If we went out in the evening I could be sure I would have a little hard poopie on my pillow! Any other time she would act like she couldn't even get on the bed but, there it was! :p
