Strange Question My friend just bought a puppy today, and it looks like his anus is sticking out a bit. Does anyone know why this could be? Do you think there is something wrong with him? He is having normal bowel movements, no constipation. Any idea about what this could be? Thanks in advance. |
The anal glands may need to be drained by the vet. |
She said she is going to call the vet on Monday, will it be ok to wait that long? |
Sometimes with very young puppies - the anal areas does seem to be protruding out somewhat. If your puppy is comfortable and going to the bathroom with no problems - perhaps, you can just wait a while and see if this settles back on it's own. I did notice this somewhat with my new puppy also - but he is totally fine now. It turned to be no problem at all. Carol Jean |
Thank you, I don't know if it hurts him when he goes, I asked her, and all she said was he is not constipated, because it was soft. I think she said he is either nine or ten weeks old. I have not actually seen him, not that I would know, I have never had this problem, if it is a problem. She lives 2 hours away, so she can't go to my vet who is usually always available. She is actually always real dramatic too, so she probably is flipping out for nothing. THANKS AGAIN!!! |
Again - please tell your friend that I noticed somewhat the same thing with my 8-week-old little pup - and, obviously, it was nothing to worry about. If he is having soft stools, I'm pretty sure he's not having any problems. She should be able to tell if he's uncomfortable going to the bathroom. Also - if, after a while, she notices no improvement - then take him to the vet......but, hopefully, she won't have to at all. Carol Jean |
