Substitute Mommy Some of you know but others don't. On Tuesday morning God called up my Reggie of 7 years.:lovewings She left is unexpectedly and left us with 5 baby girls to raise that were only 8 days old. She gave them a good head start. They are sucking from the bottle like little piggies. On March 12, Sissy, one of Reggie's daughters, gave birth to 2 but lost them both that day. She was so lost. I even tried to find someone in the area who might have new born yorkies to get a baby for her to care for, but no luck. Now her milk is dried up. However, her mother instincts have kicked in and she is watching over Reggie's babies as if they were her own. She can't feed them but she is comforting them and cleaning them. And what's so funny, she even growls at the other dogs if they get to close to the cage. Reggie was the best mommy ever, but Sissy sure is right up there! She deserves a big medal. :bravo: |
That is so sweet. Bless her heart. |
Aw that does deserve a good pat on the back. How wonderful is that? :p |
Aww what a good girl! That is such a heart warming story! |
:number1ri :number1ri :number1ri I'll give her three medals!! Suz |
awww how cute. That is so touching :p |
That is sooo sweet. Faith |
Give that girl a cookie! Awwww, what a good step-mommy she is... She does deserve a metal. |
Substitute Mommy 2 Attachment(s) Here she is. Sissy is Reggie's daughter. Twice they had litters within 10 days of each other. If Sissy's babies would have lived from March 12th, this would have made the third time only 2 weeks apart. Both times they shared the same cage. Reggie tended to take over both litters, but Sissy did her part. Now Sissy is doing more than her part. She's caring for her mama's babies. |
Awwwww! I bet Sissy misses her mom so much. What a good big sister. She was named right! :p |
Little Mama 1 Attachment(s) I took this pic this morning. The girls are so content between feedings and I think their contact with Sissy has much to do with that. Right after I took the picture, she started growling at the other dogs that were getting to close to "her" babies. |
OH, how sweeet..... I'm sure it's nice to get a little help with the babies. Hugs and Prayers Crystal |
Bless her ever-lovin' heart! She may not be able to give them milk, but she will nurish them in so many other ways! |

you won't believe this one 1 Attachment(s) Not to be outdone, Sissy's daughter Roxie, Reggie's granddaughter, has put in her two cents worth and is helping take care of the babies. |
that is just priceless...instead of Where's the Beef...it's hey wait a minute...Where's the Milk ?!?!? |
I'm glad the babies are doing well, and all the girl doggies are helping out as much as they can, lol. |

I was just thinking the same thing! |
Isn't it just amazing how other animals react to situations. God Bless their little hearts and souls for stepping in and helping. |
Just the two of us 1 Attachment(s) God may have needed Reggie but he's given me not one but two angels in her place. Sissy is guarding the door while Roxie takes care of Reggie's babies. |
How sweet!!!!!! Those are two amazing, beautiful dogs you have. |
Those puppies are lucky to have such good foster mothers. Sometimes just taking care of infants could cause a mother to start lactating again. Wouldn't that be great? |
AWWW that is so sweet ..she deserves alot of praise .and you know shes a awesome sub mom ..God love her |
