Car Rides Okay, so when we first bought Bella home on Valentines Day, she got car sick. I was thinking that this was just because she was only 8 weeks, leaving her mom and litter and just nevous...well boy was I wrong. She HATES car rides. She has this pink carrier that is great, but she absolutely hates it...now when she sees it she runs!!! When I put her in, she will scratch and cry trying to open up the carrier, she has thrown up, pooped you name it in that darn bag! I don't know what to do! I want her to enjoy car rides because I go alot of place and frequently go home to visit my parents and of course she comes along, but it is always so stressful for her :( I don't know what to do. Lately I have been letting her sit on my lap (which I know you're not supposed to do) but it's the only way she'll stay calm. She is not shaking when she's on my lap anymore and she'll just lay there, and occasionally at a red light peek out the window to see where we are. Any suggestions to making my baby like the car???? Thanks :) |
I have found that the more they go the better it is. A few have gotten car sick but not many. Good Luck |
My yorkie hates the car, too. I have tried everything and she still is afraid. She pants and shakes the entire time. Don't know what to do. :-( Good luck |
I have the same problem with my new boy Toby. Teddy is like a over the road truck driver. He loves the car but Toby has been a different story. I have had him in the car daily since he arrived and it's the same panting and shaking every day still. We even took a 1700 miles trip with him and thought by the time that was over he would be used to it but nope he just isn't a car rider I am afraid. I don't know what to do either? I love taking my boys with me where ever I go but I hate seeing him so stressed out. |
Maybe it wasn’t entirely the car ride, but a mixture of that and the stress of leaving her Mom? I would keep taking her in the car though, with the hopes she will get used to it. Ginger doesn’t mind the car at all—never has…it’s like she’s unaware she’s even in a car. Some people say animals are afraid of cars because of a bad experience they’ve had in one. So maybe she’s associating the car with when her breeder took her to the vet? I don’t know, good luck though. :) |
