Hey, that title rhymes! Good morning, all you Yorkie parents!

We picked up our "Teddi" from a breeder (Crystal Creek Kennels in Indiana) on Sunday. He's cute as he can be, and we're trying to adapt to each other. He's 12 weeks old and under 2 pounds. He comes from a litter of 2, just him and his sis. Breeder is keeping sis for breeding. Teddi comes from champion bloodlines, and I got to see his mommy and daddy. I don't really care tho, as I only want him for a pet and plan to neuter him soon. Mom was a hyperspaz and daddy was real laid back. It'll be interesting to see how puppy's personality develops!

I had my first Yorkie for 18 years! We've lived "without dog" for two years now and it was time for another . . . I've always had dogs. So hubby finally caved and I was :) !

Now, I haven't potty trained a dog for 20 years! Teddi is paper trained and does well with that. Any hints about where I should go to learn about housebreaking him? Right now he's just getting use to "grass" and doesn't quite know what to do when outside, except, of course, chew on random leaves that pass his way! It's been windy and rainy in Indiana so I'm not pushing the "outdoor pottying" at this point.

Anyway, he's a doll baby and has stolen my heart. I've tried to upload a pic to my avatar and have not been successful. I guess it's too big and I don't know how to resize it. Anyway, I'm sure y'all know how cute he is . . . all Yorkie babies are cute!

You can find TONS of info on potty training by doing a search. Of course it is one of the MOST popular subjects here! :D

Basically keeping your pup confined until he learns the ropes is the best way to go about it. Crate training or using an exercise pen seem to be the most popular methods, as well as praising and rewarding when he potties where and when you want him to! Never scold for wrong pottying!
