has anyone ever trained there yorkie to? has anyone ever trained there dog to obey every command everytime. such as sit, come, stay, off, on and stuff like that? |

Dezi is learning those commands now in puppy school. She does the sit, drop and fetch command. We are working on the others. |
Rocky is trained to sit, down, and stay. We are still working on the come command, he gets sidetracked very easily. He also of a training group session once a week. |
Gracie will stay and lie down but she refuses to sit. I've tried and tried but she refuses!!! |

Nikko will sit, but only for a treat. Other than that he is pretty much the savage, spoiled brat. He does what he wants but he's so darn cute and sweet I can't help but be a total pushover!! :rolleyes: |
Daisy can do come, sit, twirl and we're working on Stay right now... She can't really seem to get that one down or doesn't want to. |
Illy will sit and that is the extent of her obediance. We are working on shake, but it seems hopeless. LOL. Whatever... |
Katy can do sit, down, give me 5, stick um up and my husband has taught her to run and sit next to him when the garage door opens and they are in the garage. We had a lot of fun with take and leave it. She still wants it really bad. Stay is a useless word for her. |
Oliver is really great picking up tricks fast- he knows sit, laydown, stay, down, go potty, come, paw, spin, and he just learned roll-ver today! Sometimes he gets them mixed up- if I say laydown he'll spin first and see if it gets a reaction then he'll laydown. haha crazy babies! |

Keeley has learned every trick I have taught him... Sit, Lay Down, Stay, Wait, wave, shake, roll over, turn around, speak, say please, on your back, kisses, watch me, come, go get him/her, go get (then the toy specified), heel, go to your bed, and take a bow BUT When I tell him to do these tricks he looks at me like "What am I going to get?" And then if he sees it is worth his time he'll do it. Such a brat! ;) |
I trained my beautiful terrier mix, who passed away in January, to sit, shake paws (both), lie down, roll over, stay, fetch each of her toys from her toybox by name (she had about 10 different ones) and she could play hide and seek (she'd seek a toy that we hid somewhere in the livingroom). She danced, and did so many other wonderful things. Topher is learning something new just about every week. Repetiton and reward are the key, and it MUST be fun for them. A nice tiny little treat (usually a tiny puppy food cause they're tastier....something they can eat quickly and not get distracted with). He's a smart little fella and has done so well at potty training that I know he'll have fun learning more and more things. |

The dog gradually learns that he still gets his treat even if he can't see it. Joey will now happily follow a command for me out in the yard, knowing that I will say "GOOD BOY! My kids love to take an afternoon and try to teach him something new. It was my 16 year old who taught him to sit and she accomplished that in about 5 minutes with his favorite treats. These guys are pretty smart and I find they LOVE to learn. It keeps them busy and out of trouble!!lol As far as treats go, after a while they'll love to do the trick (or whatever) without worrying about the treat...they love the praise more than anything. When Topher knows he's done something right he dances around so proud of himself....of course he's probably just reacting to my excitement, but it is cute. |
