A little info on Kizzy and a ?
 

Did you get her from a breeder? I can't imagine letting a baby go at 6 weeks old that was a pound.

The breeder had several kind of puppies she breeds, but hasnt actually owned a kennel, she has a small one in her house. But her sister has bred yorkies for about 15 years and she worked with her. I know its right tho because I got the birth certificate, she was born feb 3rd. and I got her on march 15th I believe. she keeps them all in small cages in her house. every cage was clean and the mom and dad of this puppy was there also. I know it had to be the puppys parents cause the mom ran straight to kizzys cage and started licking her. the mom weighed little under 5 lbs and the dad about 4 lbs.
She just cut her front teeth this week , she only had 2 little jaw teeth come in a couple days after I got her but she will only eat hard food. The vet said that was fine.

I would say the weight gain is healthy, but does seem a little fast. The chart at her 6 weeks weight, puts her at 4 pounds maturity, but her weight at 9 weeks puts her in the 5 1/2 pound category. I would estimate her adult weight to be about 5 pounds. My 5 pound female actually looks smaller than my 4 pound male so don't obsess about the weight. I guarantee you will love her no matter what size she gets and wouldn't trade her for anything!

Six weeks is very young to take a puppy away from Mom. I'm glad she's doing so well.

Cali weighed 1 lb at 9 weeks and weighs 4 lbs now at 9 1/2 months. She is pretty tiny and health issues are more prevelent in the small ones.

It's always interesting regarding people's opinions about health issues with the smaller Yorkies... and, we know there are a lot of healthy little yorkies............

But --- my vet said that there are definitely many more health problems with the smaller Yorkies. He said - "Don't even try to argue with me - because I'm the one who sees them." He told me about many of the problems he sees with smaller Yorkies, and even went on to say that he rarely has to do more than routine care with a good-sized Yorkie.

yes, I already knew that. My sister in law has one that is 10 years old now. She is beautiful and weighs about 7 lbs, but she has a pretty think coat of hair and I wonder sometimes when they have a thicker coat , seems it might make them weigh a little more, especially when it hangs to the floors like hers does. My vet says Kizzy seems very healthy and I will always call my vet if I get concerned about anything with her.
and Yes we already love her to peices. we are neither one really big on pets of any kind but once we get that special one, youre gonna have a hard time getting her from us. we have only the two of us at home and mostly during the week its just me and Kizzy as he commutes a long way from home to work and back. we've never had but one dog my husband was really crazy about but he spoiled her worse than me and I already see that coming when he is at home. He actually holds her more than I do. He is actually a horse lover.
thanks for the post to mine and just so you know, naw I wont obsess about her weight but I just hope she stays 5lbs or below. She will be spayed as soon as she is old enough. She is my baby and I dont want her to go thru that especially at her size even if she makes it to 5 lbs. she is our pet, nothing more. we're not the least bit in breeding anything.

My little Morgan is 9-weeks old as of Thursday and is 1 lb. 13 oz. so it sounds to me the weight gain may be pretty normal but that is JMO. I'm not an expert by any means.

Congrats on your new addition. I think they tend to gain somewhat fast the first couple of weeks and then will even out. Im not expert of course. Enjoy your little girl. Remember there is not really an exact science to tell weight at maturity, is just an estimate or prediction. All pups are different. Good luck.
I wanted Gucci to be around 5 lbs also, and I can tell you that she is almost 2 yrs old and weights 4 lbs 8 oz. She seems so small, I love her to death, I just wish she was a big bigger just cause she seems fragile. Even thou she doesnt think so, she will run and jump up and down the furniture.

She sounds like she's doing well to me too. Two little parents can have a bigger puppy so you'd have to trace the whole family tree. Maybe the grandparents were bigger. Just like people, you never know. The formula is to take the 8 week weight and times it by three or the 12 week weight and times it by 2. Then some people add an extra half or pound for good measure. These are just guesstimates though.

The reason that the puppy shouldn't be taken from his mother at 6 weeks is because they learn proper dog behavior from their mothers and the other puppies in the litter. They learn that biting too hard hurts and all kinds of things. Many people believe it's ok as long as they are eating on their own. But you have Kizzy now and it sounds like you love her very much. An older puppy is sometimes more confident and more receptive to learning. I hope Kizzy has some other little puppies to play with. It will be fun for her and they can learn together.

The potty training can take a very long time. Debbie is four years old now and I'm just happy that she uses the tile instead of the carpet and thrilled when she actually uses her pad. Kizzy is just an infant now. Just keep working with her and eventually she might get it.

Well, Kizzy took right up with us and with everyone that has been here. She is already a good puppy. She is 9 weeks old, she minds good, she can go down my back steps by herself already and I have I think 8 steps and they are far apart. She can get up on the bottom step coming up then I pick her up and sit her on the deck and comes in with me though the back door and stops and sits right there for her treat. I've already taught her to sit and she tries to speak to go out but its more of a squeak, whine or lil yelp. lol.
I think this lady must have been a good breeder and really cared for her puppies. When I started to leave with Kizzy the lady had big tears in her eyes. I would buy from her again. Kizzy is a smart little girl for 9 weeks. She is never a problem at night. I put her in her carrier and she never whines. she just goes to sleep and rarely wakes up during the night. I dont think I would of found one better if I looked the rest of my life. Plus she is very active. she plays with her toys and growls and even barks at them already. she pretty much sleeps thru the whole night. Seems I've gotten up with her 3 times during the night and took her out, like 3 am once and other two times closer to 5 and 6 am.
