Flying with your yorkie I have been looking into how to take my dogs to France. Flying is just under 1 hour but the airlines say they put them in the hold with the luggage???? and they cant be with you on the plane  Has anyone travelled this way? Could the dogs be sedated maybe? The only other way is by boat which takes 5.5 hours and the dogs have to stay in the car the whole time  and then another 2.5 hour drive after. :( |
I personally wouldn't fly my dogs unless i could take with under my seat. Have you checked another airlines? Hopefully someone else on here can tell you they did it and had no problems especially since it's short trip. |
......because its to another country and its under the pet passport scheme there are only a few approved airlines that i can use. |
Oh I see. Is the weather ok there as far as temperatures i don't think the cargo load is heated. I hope someone else with experience with this can respond and give you some good advise. |
Personally, I would rather go in the car than put my pup in the cargo hold. |
I was watching the Animal airport show the other night, based at heathrow and it was about a dog taking ill while in the hold . They said it can happen if you sedate them as that lower's their temperature and then the hold is colder when the plane is in flight!! So I think I would go by car. |
I am not sure how it is in England, but I flew from the US to Mexico and had Gabby right under my seat. We are planning to go back to the US this summer and we will do the same. They were very good about this as long as all the papers were in order and she was not taken out of the carrier for the entire trip. I would not allow Gabby to be put in cargo, because we hear alot of scary stories. |
Thank you all, i think we will be going by car now i have this info |
