Little Red Hydrant???? I was browsing through the Foster & Smith catalogue and saw a little red fire hydrant for male dogs. Apparently this little hydrant is scented to attract male dogs to pee on it. I was considering buying one to try for Nikko, who has been driving me crazy with his marking indoors. Does anyone have experience with this little hydrant indoors? I was thinking of getting it and placing it on a wee wee pad. Should I get it? |
They had those everywhere outside of Baileys obedience school. I don't know if they were scented to begin with, But I know they were scented afterwards.. ;) He liked it. |
Let me know if it works I would like to get one for scrappydoo. |
ive seen that, i think it so so cute, not sure if should get it though, he might lift his leg and pee pee and miss and pee on the sides and maybe hit the wall or whatever is there... ive had male dogs and it goes everywhere. not sure with little ones though... maybe someone else can advise you... |

I was looking at them for Harley he does the same thing, I wonder if they do work? If they do i am getting one for inside the house and outside... :D |
you have to remember that he will go where his scent mark is. if he has lifted on the couch, he will do it again and again to refresh the mark. and i don't know if the hydrant is a big deal. maybe you should have a neighbor dog come over and mark on your tree :) he'd definately want to go there then! |
I just saw these at Petsmart yesterday. They were not shaped like a fire hydrant just simply a pole with a stake on one end to put in the ground. They were by the potty training pads. I didn't notice the price, but probably cheaper than mail order. I wouldn't put one in the house because no marking in the house is tolerated here and I don't think he needs one outside because he already has his favorite places. |
You can make one by filling a bottle up with sand to weigh it down. It won't cost you a cent. Some people have used deoderant over previously used marking spots to keep them from marking there again. |
Sounds cute, I'd get one if I had a male. :D :D :D |
bottle I took a two litre coke bottle and filled it with water. then I wrapped a pee pad around it and set it on another pee pad. Ceeby loves it but it does not stop him from going other places. i am about to belly band him. i saw him lift on my woodwork the other day and that is something you don't want to happen. You will never be able to get rid of the odor and it ruins your walls behind the woodwork. |
I've seen that before. Should work. |
