Matty hair! Illy is 14 weeks now and I've noticed that her hair is starting to get matted is some places. I'm not sure what to do about it. I try to brush them out and it hurts her, so I stop. Does anyone else have this problem |
Something you can do is shampoo and condition her. When you have the conditioner on brush her hair. Thats what I do to get out the matts. |

I now know that Lucy has the matty kind of hair too since she definately matts. Especially under her arms or underside. Many times since it is under her arms and underside I usually cut them out. If it were on top-which it hasn't happed at all in 3yrs-I don't think it will then I wouldn't cut them. |
Trixie had that problem but I just wouldn't give in but gave lots of treats and praise. Now at about 19 weeks I noticed a sudden change in her coat and it is so silky now. Just be patient with her and don't give in to her squirming. Even when you stop brushing still hold the same way but pet pet pet. Trixie still doesn't like her but done but has gotten LOTS better. Best of luck!! |
My pup is 20 weeks and has a puppy coat that mats easily. She is having her first haircut on saturday. I am hoping that when the horrible puupy hair is gone, her coat woll be easier to take care of. The new coat is much silkier! I'll let you know.In the meantime--weekly baths and daily brushing are essential! |
Pippa's hair matts all the time. If brushed daily i can control them but if left god its hard work. Doesnt help her brothers a labrador and she thinks she is too ie, rolling around in mud, fighting etc :D |
I noticed my girls went thru that stage...a good inexpensive product is Johnsons No More Tangles for human babies - found in most stores... |
She'll probably have a great silk coat. Three of mine went through that stage...the one's that ended up silk coats. Does it look like dread locks? Kara |
I had the same thread Check out what people said about our little Diasy. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35995 So far so good, if she doesn't grow out of this phase naturally before we run out of the detangler we currently use, I'll probably go buy the Johnsons & Johnsons product detangler. |
My Chloe doesnt like for me to brush her mattes either, it hurts her! I use a spray and leave in conditioner. And when I bathe her I use conditioner too! |
