What to put in a puppy goodie basket As you all know tasha and jersey both had a litter. I am going to put together a little gift basket for new owners. I was hoping you all could give me some ideas on things you got with yours or things that you would of liked to of gotten with yours. I have few ideas but don't know if new owners would like it or not..so can you all help me out on this..Thanks.. |
i'm put together a welcome care package for my cousin who just got a puppy. in it i have a blanket, a chew toy, a squeaky toy, some treats, some kibbles, and a couple shirts. |
Go to Walmart and buy those (adult human ) pee pads that are large 18pk each is 20"X36" approx. I would get like 5 of them and roll them up individually and tie a blue or pinkbow around each one. Also 1 tube of Nutrical,a chew toy and maybe a blue or pink towel for "baby's first bath" buy some empty 2 oz or 4 oz plastic bottles and fill with puppy shampoo. You could buy a 16 oz bottle and fill several small bottles this way. All of this will come out to about $9 for each gift package. Now you are giving me ideas for when my friend decides to get another yorkie! I know what to send her! :) Genie |
Good ideas. A blanket or stuffed toy with their mom/littermates' scent on it to help ease the transition. |
There was another thread on here about puppy packs with SOOO many suggestions .. here it is! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ht=puppy+packs |
I think a baby picture would be good also. |
I am making a puppy basket up for my pups when they leave too. I am including most of what you all have listed. I am also inclosing a picture album full of pictures of mom, dad, and brothers & sisters and them from the day of birth until they leave my house. :) |

I think this is such a wonderful idea, when I picked up Kloey the breeder did not have anything like that for me, and I have asked for pics of her mom and dad and she has not responded to me :( I love the idea of a picture album. Also make sure you have them nice and clean and smelling soooo good, and a bow in there hair :) How is little Brody doing??? |
I really like my Yorkshire Terrier Book by Janet Jackson... Also Nutra cal is always good to have around~ Kara |
Brody is doing great. These are some really good ideas..some i'd already thought of and some I never thought of at all. I love all the ideas though. I can't wait to start getting everything together. It's going to be so exciting watching the new people with their new babies. This is one of rewarding things when breeding..is making someone else happy.. I never got anything from my breeder either and I knew her lol..she just didn't do that. I think it's a nice gesture. Puppies are expensive so it's nice to get goodies when you get them..heck when we have a baby we do..so why not with our fur babies lol |
I had an idea..a puppy shower..get it baby shower.. I just came up with something..you know how people have a baby shower when they have a baby but what about a puppy shower..we treat them like our babies..who knows maybe I can start a new career lol..ok not me because i'm not creative but alot of you on here are..so what do you think..would you throw one for your friend? |
When we got our puppy two weeks ago, the breeder (who I think is wonderful in every way) had us come over for a demonstration, as well as to pick up the puppy. We stayed for almost three hours. She showed us how to hold the puppy during a bath, remove ear hair and general care and maintenance. She demonstrated how to tie a topknot and how to brush using one of her grown dogs. Then she gave us the following (and refused to accept any additional money): 1. Full-size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and detangler with empty measuring bottles and instructions about how to dilute each. 2. A brush and two combs. 3. An unopened package of puppy food. 4. Favorite stick treats. 5. Pictures. 6. Blue baby blanket with the scent of his mother and other litter mates. 7. Her unconditional support--she called every few days during the first week to see how we were doing. 8. And of course, the most important, a well-socialized, healthy, happy puppy! In addition, what was most useful as I prepared for the new addition, was a definitive shopping list I found through the search query by "hunniebunnie" that listed everything one could possibly need. The address at the bottom of the list is www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27842 Hope you find this useful. |
Thats a good list i agree thank you. I love to hear all the stories ofwhat other breeders are giving..thanks |
I didn't get a goodie basket with Chester or Gracie. With Rebel, I got a small crocheted blanket and a couple of cans of puppy food. In my gift baskets, I give, food, toys, toys, toys, a monogrammed blanket, shot records, puppy registration papers and chewies. |
I haven't sent my puppies to their forever home yet, still a few weeks to go..... but besides blanket, toys, food, shampoo, an information kit, I put together a picture CD from birth till they pick them up. |
