I have a ? again... Some of you may know that my fiance and I are expecting our first child in October! Parker is 7 months old now, and he has become very protective of me. Even to the point of growling and biting at Randy if he is being "too rough" when we are playing around. Right now it is kind of funny, but it does make me wonder if he is going to be that protective over the baby when it gets here. Also, he is obsessed with my stomach.... anytime that I am sitting or laying where he can be right on top of me he is!!! It is so funny. So anyway.... How would you guys suggest getting him ready to the idea that there is going to be a new baby around.... with toys and "stuff" that he cant have and is going to want. I am also afraid that he may get jealous over me with the baby.... Any and all suggestions/comments are welcome!!!! :) |
The best thing you can do is to establish who is the boss. After that it should be a breeze, my yorkies always loved the babies. They should not be allowed to growl or bite anyone, if they are it's because they see themselves as the top dog. They will usually only take that roll if the humans haven't clearly establisshed who's the boss. |
And please teach your little dog that the new baby is 100% off limits to him. He should only visit the baby when you are holding it (or right there) and he has been invited to visit with it. Good luck! Carol Jean |
