what could be wrong? I have noticed fr time to time that when Hayley has been laying and sleeping for a while she gets up and acts like her back end is stiff for just a min. Seems to go away real fast and then she runs jumps and acts normal. I mentiuoned it to vet a couple months ago they she said that she didnt feel anything abnormal but she would do xrays when we spay. Have any of you have any input on this please reply back |
How old is your little one? You mentioned spaying so she seemed young? I would think stiffness in a young dog would be cause for alarm. The only thing I have to compare is a non-medical thing with Kenzy...whenever he has been sleeping for awhile, when he rises he stretches REAL big, dragging his back legs behind him as if he is lame. He is not - he just has a weird personality. Is it something like that? If it is more a mobility issue with walking or jumping then having x-rays taken would probably be wise. I hope it is nothing serious...Good luck!! |
she is seven months old. Iknow what your talking about with the stretching and drapgging cause Hayley does that sometime also. Its different I cant really explain it. Its like she gets stiff after laying for a while but like I said she quickley comes out of it and she jumps and runs and plays normal, she is very active. I dont know it may be her just being lazy after sllping I will do xrays to see, reckon it could be arthritis? |
I'm not sure I would pay for x-rays at this point...especially since your vet isn't concerned (and, of course, if you're concerned, they will be happy to take x-rays). She is a little young to have any arthritis. Why don't you just keep an eye on her for a while. Obviously, since she is up and moving around normally quickly, it really isn't much of a problem. X-rays are expensive. I would at least wait and see if her condition worsens before I would get x-rays. You can always get them later, if you are still concerned. I just want to save you some money - we have enough vet bills with our pets without getting any extra....... Carol Jean |
I'm Sorry :idontknow But I hope everything turns out OK. |
Watch her for other symptoms. There is a problem in hips that developes around this age and usually just in one hip. So watch her for favoring one leg. I don't think an x ray would be a bad idea. |
Sounds like it could be luxating patella~ http://www.vetinfo.com/dpatella.html I would do a google search. Kara |

my family dog when i was growing up had exactly that and it was mild seizers. there was no cure and no cause for concern. she was with us for 16 wonderful years. |
