Has anyone ever flown with their baby for more than 10 hours straight?? We are currently stationed in South Korea and we are planning on going to Los Angeles for the summer(july) on vacation and I really want to take Tinkerbell and Chiquito with me, They do have boarding here but I don't know how Tinkerbell would do she is extra spoiled :rolleyes:. I have never had her caged or anything like that she is used to raoming the house :D I know it's my fault :rolleyes:. Sometimes I put her in with CHiqutio in the Xpen(when i am mopping) and she starts shaking and crying. Any suggestions, I would really appreciate it ;). Korea is a 12 hour flight :(

My friends shipped their dog from the US to Italy and back again when they moved back here.She did fine. If I were you, I'd introduce her to the crate so she'll get used to it. Our new pup, Ramsey, has realized in just a few days that her crate is a nice place to hang out. She goes in there on her own and naps. Good luck.

Thanks that sounds like a great idea and I had thought of getting her a crate anyways, I saw a pink one here in one of the shops and I think I am going to go buy it. I am just afraid the flight might be long for her. She will be about 7 months :)

Hey Micalea- I flew to Houston and back with KimMee from Ulsan three times. That was 22 hours from door to door. She did great but she has been in a crate from day one. YOu will have troubles if you don't get her used to the crate- she will cry alot on the plane and when getting used to the crate. You also have to get health certificates from the Vet in Korea and then at the airport go to Animal Quarantine to get clearance.Then in California when time to fly back you will have to do the same thing. Have you cked into California's pet import laws? Good luck and I never had any trouble except a little crying at take off.

ps- you need to make your reservation a bit early as only two pets are allowed in the cabin at a time and some airlines won't take a pet on a flight that long-ie- Continental.

Hello KimMee's Mom, Thanks for all the info I am aware of the paperwork I need but thank You for reminding me. I went out today and bought a crate for Tinkerbell, She does not mind to be in there for about a minute but I guess it's better that I start soon. I will try to put her in everyday until the day we have to fly, hopefully she is ok. I didn't know what size to buy (I should've asked here on YT) But the one I got fits both Chiquito and Tinkerbell together. It's pink it is super cute :p I'll post a picture, hopefully it is airline approved :confused:.

Here is the new crate I bought Tinkerbell. I really like it and I hope it works for the trip, she is pretty good about getting in and when I closed the door she didn't cry or shake ;). I am going to start a little at a time :thumbup: :aimeeyork Any suggestions on crating or making it easier would be greatly appreciate it.

The biggest problem you may face is that most flights (if you go cargo) won't take dogs from May? to August as it is to hot on the tarmac. My dog has traveled with me in cabin most of the time and had no problem. She didn't like it but was fine. She had to go cargo coming to South Africa because for some reason they don't let them in cabin. No good reason. She was fine. I was nuts but she was fine. The guy loaded her on the plane and then came to me to let me know she was on. When we got to Johannesburg the guy at the airport said to me "What live animal?" I started to cry. I was very tired. She was there. They just didn't know it. Sheese. Travel with dogs is hard. Good luck to you. I have run through airports with her in her cage, 2 suitcase, my backpack and carry on. Not fun but I wouldn't have traded her for anything.

This question is a bit off the thread subject, but did you purchase your furbabies in Korea? I am moving to S. Korea in a month and am hoping to find a Yorkie to love while I am there. I have been putting off getting one before the big move, but... can you recommend any breeders in Korea? I don't want to risk getting a dog from a puppy mill.

i have flow from here to seoul , thailand and the philippines and i know its a ling flight for me. I think they will be more comfortable, they like to sleep and can move around somewhat. i think they will be fine. for me wow those seats need to be bigger , lol:D
