Are your pets like you! My family and friends have remarked many many times that my children (when they were young) and all my pets are always quiet. Even my bird became what might be "the quietest little Conure in the world." Normally, they are so noisy that many people rehome them. Not mine - he chirped and sang and played all day. I got my Yorkie about 5 months ago, and he was a lively playful little guy (still is), but he has developed the sweetest personality. He almost never barks - plays a lot - loves to go outside - has fun with my other dog - loves company and other animals -- but at the same time is a very sweet, calm, affectionate, laid back, little guy. The consensus has become that my children and all my pets are that way because I am such an easy going, laid back, calm person myself. Even when I discipline - it is done is a quiet calm way - no yelling, getting upset, etc. My question is: --- Have your pets developed a personality similar to yours?? Carol Jean |
Yikes, if this is true- I need tranquilizers :omg: |
Most people I know say that since having a dog they are up at the crack of dawn, so they don't get to sleep in anymore.. NOt me,, Bailey is like his momma , he's a sleeper, when I turn the tv off, he jumps up and runs to the bed, and stays there all night and will sleep as long as I do. And there are a few people I'm not fond of and it seems he doesn't like them much either,, good judge of character. |
Let's see... Joey is the sweetest thing in the entire world and incredibly smart. Is that like me???? NOT... |
Funny you should start this thread, for the last few weeks i have been wondering why my dogs are different to my friend's dogs, she also has 2 yorkie girls, both exactly the same ages as my girls, we both have 1 big dog each, mine are very calm yet playfull, not noisy (hardly ever bark) love to love us, and are not used to loud noises or yelling. My friend's dogs are so so different, they are always running around barking at the slightest sounds or shadows, sometimes they bark at nothing, are very used to loud noises and yelling screaming kids or people, dont bother them at all. She has a bird and we have a bird, mine tries to talk and plays a lot, her bird screams alllllll day long lol... she asked me last week WHAT i do to my animals and WHAT i give them to keep them quiet LOL |
Both of my yorkies are laid back like me and my Husband |
My husband says that Zeus is high maintenance and spoiled, just like his Mom!! :p |
Funny you should bring this up. I have noticed that my little Sasha is sort of like me. She is always fun, spunky outgoing and bouncy when she is at home- but like me -she gets quiet and reserved when we go out on play dates. She will sit on my lap and watch the others play! How funny- I remember mentioning this to one of my friends back about 6 months ago. So maybe they do pick up our feelings- and respond in the same ways!! Doggies are so sensitive anyway- it must be they tune into our personalities. How Divine!! No wonder we luv them so much! Just like right now- she is trying to sleep on my mouse!! Sashas Mom |
Very interesting. We had a toy poodle for 15 years and he was the most calm non-poodle-like dog I ever saw. He was very laid back like my husband and I. Could sleep all day if I wanted to or just hang out on the couch. I was a little leary of getting a Yorkie after hearing how high strung they can be. Well, Tatum has turned out to be just like our poodle. Very laid back and "low maintenance". Funny thing, so are our children. I remember asking my MIL one time why my kids were so much more tolerable than my two nephews and she said it comes from how the parents act and react to things. I say they (pets and kids) pick up on more than we realize! |
I'm very calm, but my yorkie is a nut! I think I like him better taht way though. I wouldn't want him just being a lap dog. I guess he get's me up and going. :) |
chester is pretty laid back, I guess Im, and he loves to lay in bed under the covers and be a bum, just like his mom. |
My yorkie is outgoing and rumbuntious. I am not that outgoing and I am pretty laid back person. So I would have to say mine's not like me at all. :) |
:D With 10 dogs that must explain my split personality :p |

All of my three are so different. Jasmine is very spoiled. A regular Diva. She definitely rules the household. She rules the two boys. My husband says she is just like me. haha If I tell her "NO" she does mind very well. She doesn't like mommy mad at her. Very outgoing. Very loving. I was going to say none of mine are like me but the more I describe her the more I realize she probably is quite a lot like me Duffy is very hyper. Never still a minute. Super smart and very stubborn. Doesn't like to mind. He can drive me crazy sometimes as he is always into something and never, ever will he just relax and chill out. He is also very loving so I can't stay mad at him. Murphy is the laid back one. He is so sweet and lovable. He can't stand for you to get on to him. He's my sweet, shy, loverboy. My children were all very well behaved, particuarly when we took them someplace. People always commented on what well behaved mannerly children they were. |
