Here's a website on it....and I bet if you search you can find a place to order it IF you need it....Most people with small puppies keep it on hand...http://www.tinyshihtzu.com/nutrical.htm you do NOT need a syringe ....a little fingernail size amount works.... |
Yes, she's right. You can get it at www.petedge.com. They will ship most anywhere I believe. |
Thanks :D I'll have a read |
Hummm...my vet told us that there was no way that you could give a puppy too much Nutrical, unless of course the puppy is diabetic. But who knows! We gave Hobbs A LOT of it, because he was sooooo tiny and didn't eat too much of his food at first. I am sure it depends on the dog and how much the dog is eating as to whether you could give it too much Nutrical. |
I dislike nutrical!!! Don't get me wrong, it is a great product but I think it is overly used. Basically what it is, is sugar(Corn syrup, known as glucose syrup). What you are basically doing is giving your dog a sugar high. For dog/puppy that needa a little stimulant or is low in sugar it is great. But many time nutriCal is overly used and the dog is kept on a sugar high with the dog "crashing" from the sugar high in-between. My opinion is, if your dog/puppy don't need it don't use it. |

I have never seen Nutrical on the shelves here in petstores in the Netherlands either, but i got mine from our vet. Ask your vet for it, they should stock it. |
I give Nutri cal to mine if they are stressed for what ever the reason. I also give it to my tiny ones to prevent them from bottoming out but they are weaned from it so to speak when I feel they are eatting enough not to bottom out. |
I took Chance in for his 1st check up and the vet say he did not need Nurti-Cal... unless I see where he was not eating... Chance is 4.1 pds at 12 weeks.. LOL :D ... he is eating... he loves his Kibbles... So i have not been giving him any... but i do have it handy in case i see any thing werid going on. |
I give my Poopsie a pea-size of Nutrical 3 times a day. She's pretty tiny... so I give it to her to make sure she gets enough sugar. I've never had any problems with it... and Poopsie loves it! It's like a treat to her. I did switch to Karo syrup for a while, but it made her poop hard, so it was hard for her to squeeze out! lol... anyways... nutrical is great. |
Adrianna will be 10 weeks next Saturday and weighs 1.7lbs. Her breeder and the vet definitely recommended Nutrical/Nutristat for awhile. |
I tried to get some Nutrical from Petsmart shipped to me in NZ.Unfortunately custom regulations meant that they couldn't send it here! Sigh. I found a similar product at me vet's shop called Nutrigel, which has vitamins and minerals as well as glucose. It has helped my picky eater and tiny Yorkie improve her eating.I don't worry about her eating now. I still give her a pea size amount once a day.For the first 5 days I was giving her a little 3x a day. I'm glad I found our version, which is made in Australia.I had been to my vet about Holly's eating and they did not mention this product.I had to find it myself!! |
