Registration Paperwork Time Limit? When I bought Reggie from the breeder (Feb 10, 2006), she told me she had sent in his registration paperwork right after he was born (12/22/05) but because of Christmas she thought it was taking longer to get things back. I have contacted her a few times in the last month and a half and the last correspondence I had with her, she told me that she expected the paperwork within a week. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything. Since I've never purchased a purebred dog before, I don't know how this is usually handled. Can anyone help me figure out what to do? Thank you! |
You didn't mention what registry she uses, but when I registered my litter (with AKC) I had the paperwork back within 6 days. Not sure what to tell you at this point. |
It has been a little too long. I would call her again, let her know you want to send your papers in on time. There is a limit for you too, or they can charge you more for your registration. I think you have six months from the time she sends her's in. At least that's how AKC is. Good luck to you. :) :) :) |
Thanks to this thread i FOUND my reg. papers! haha I am sending them in TODAY- but I looked them over and they say I'm late Nov. 15 of this year- which means the breeder must have reg. the litter a coupld days after they were born and I get a year or else I pay 35# fee (if I wait till 2007 it's 65$!!!!) So the AKC papers I have give me a year. Just thought I would add my situation! have a wonderful day! |

Update I just talked to the breeder and she says the papers were mailed to me yesterday so I should have them by Saturday. Let's keep our fingers crossed that she was being honest with me. Have a great night everyone! Ruth :aimeeyork |
