I Feel So Bad. Little Amy went to the vets today to be spayed. She is only 7 and a half months old. This morning she was her usual self, very liverly and excited at the thought of going in the car. Well i have picked her up and i feel so bad as to what i have put her through. :( Not only has she been spayed, but the vet also removed 2 of her Cannines ,as she had double at the top and he said they where showing no signs of being loose,so to save her going back for another anesthetic,he removed them. So she is in her crate looking very sad and depressed, and its all my fault. She also is wearing a collar to stop her trying to pull out her stiches. I hate to see her like this :( please tell me that i am not a bad dog owner,as i do love her very much. Anyone else felt like this? |
I know how you feel I had Lottie done last week , but she is great now . The worst thing was the headcollar so I just bought an all in one baby vest cut a hole for her tail and put that on her to stop her getting at it and it meant I could take the collar off.Lottie did not even have any stitches it was all surgicaly glued and is healing up great.Best of Luck Julie |
You were a good mom,not to worry, she'll be her old self in no time. When we had our little Princess Tiffany(RIP) spayed they took out several teeth that hadn't fallen out (normal for these little munchkins),but while she was under they also repaired her double hernia's so she came home with a pretty goodsize incision, poor baby, but within a few days she bounced right back and was her normal self. :) The fewer times they have to be put under the better  |
i felt the same way when lexi was spayed and they pulled her teeth.. it will be all over real soon. by tomorrow she will be running around. promise. |

Cali was done a week ago Monday and spent 48 hours in the er hospital because she had some additional procedures. I felt so horrible i had never left her that long before. I checked on her several times a day and she was so happy to see me when I finally got her. She slept alot which was good for her and me since I have that bad flu so we both rested a lot. She will be her old self real soon and now it's done! You are a good pet owner as you did this for her long term health, |

Take the collar off and see if she even goes near the stitches. (the collar has to be the worst thing ... other than some pain she might have). My Penny was recently spayed ( she wasn't given a collar) and the first day she just hid under a towel... didn't eat... she did get up to pee... By the next day, you wouldn't even know she had any surgery... she was her usual self. Hope your little one feels better soon!!! :) |
I know exactly how you feel. It's a heartbreaker to see our little one's after they've had surgery. I didn't use the collar on Maddie when she was spayed...I used onsie's and she looked to cute in them. They are much more comfy than those ridiculous collars! Best wishes to Amy for a speedy recovery!!! Hugs to you!!! |
You're not a bad dog owner; you're a responsible, caring one! Little Amy will be as good as new in a couple days :) |

I cried when we dropped off Punkin and when we picked her up. I was a wreck. I felt horrible. We got her a onsie (the clerk at Walmart thought I was nuts!). The onsie was great - although she had a couple of accidents so more than one was necessary. Her second day home she was almost back to normal. The third day home she was getting in to stuff and running around. The worst part was no bath for 2 weeks (until the stitches came out). I was upset at the stitches - it looked like there was going to be a huge scar. It's been 7 weeks ( I think) and you can barely see where there is even a mark of where the stiches are. It's hard at first - but you did the right thing. Both you and your baby will be just fine :) |
Thank you very much for all your kind words, and advice. You have made me feel so welcome on here, and i appreciate all your advice. Thank you. |
I felt the same when my Pippa was done and she had her dew claws removed at same time. I questioned myself over and over but it is the best thing to do honest! You are a good mommy :D All us good mommy's worry :D |
You are in no way a bad dog owner. It was best for your baby to have this done all at once so she would not have to go back a second time and be put under again. Hug on her and give her lots of love and attention...she will forgive you and mostlikely be fine tomorrow. |
