Learning Yorkese How fun is it to learn the unique language of our furbabies?! Miss Abbie is 16 weeks, and so far has taught me that:[list][*]"Come Here" clearly means "Run in the opposite direction as fast as my four little legs will carry me!"[*]"No, Abbie - do NOT chew the furniture!" is Yorkese for: "Chew everything in sight with renewed vigor!"[*]"Potty on the paper, Abbie" can be interpreted as: "potty everywhere EXCEPT on the potty paper".[/list]OK...how far have you gotten with your Yorkese lessons? |

Hush...means bark more and louder. Ouch...stop biting me...means chew alittle harder until mommy stops making that ouch noise. Yes...Come here...means run in the opposite direction so mommy looks like a fool chasing me in the backyard. :p Stop eating that goose poop....means chew really fast and run from mommy and give her big wet kisses when she catches me. :D |
Drop that sock means ... run under the sofa and hide it. |

Hello everyone ! I am new here :) My name is Izabela and I am writting from Warsaw in Poland. I have 11moths old york name Rocky and he is absolutely gorgeous! :) I can see that he acts like other yorks and does whatever he wants! Basically I wanted to ask you about one thing - when me and my husband leave home for work, Rocky starts crying :( It wasn't always like that.. it breaks my heart that I have to leave him when he is so sad :( What to do ? Do you have the same problem with your doggies? |

"drop it" clearly means... let's play tug of war! there's a few things he's teaching me too, like... running around and along the edge of the bed like he's crazy means... lemme down off the bed...i really gotta GOOOOOO!!!!!! barking in the kitchen means... come over and pick this crap up! ******************* welcome Izabela! it might be more beneficial to you to do a search on the forum for "separation anxiety". or start a different thread on your particular situation. it's a pretty common problem with puppies. but i just don't know if you'll get a whole lot of feed back on that particular question here since it deviates from the original intent of this thread. |
Hello :) Thank you for your reply! Well to tell you the trouth 1 york is just about enough for us :) But if it is the only possibility to make Rocky happy, maybe we should think about it.. Won't Rocky be jelous of this new doggy? Rocky is very, veeeery emotional if I may say so... |

OK, so if they're clearly one of the most stubborn, self-willed breeds - WHY do we choose to share our lives with them? Oh...here's a couple more for our list:[list][*] Frantic barking by the senior dog, when one is jumping in his face MUST mean: "Oh, YES, please do THAT some MORE!" [*]Frantic barking/running by the senior dog when one is attached to his tail cannot possibly mean anything other than: "Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Pull that tail some MORE!" [*] Running into the bedroom (after he's extricated one from his tail) is an unmistakable invitation for you to FOLLOW him!! The senior dog is just getting away from your people, so y'all can REALLY play! [/list] |

Hobbs is too small to jump on the couch or bed, so he'll jump as high as he can and then bark when he doesn't make it....BUT when we bend down to pick him up...HE RUNS AWAY!! I guess he really didn't want on the couch/bed afterall...he just wants someone to chase him! Also, with eating poop, I say NO! and he chews harder and faster and runs in the other direction. I guess they all act the same!! They are too smart to listen to us! |
