What do you do with the ears? Do you guys use ear drops for your babies? I've never used anything on Coco and have probably only plucked like 1-2 hair from in there (nothing has grown). My friend was saying she uses drops on her yorkie after every bath, every week to keep it clean and bacteria free. Did I miss the memo on the ear solution? Should I get her some? |
I do not agree with putting anything in the ears of my dogs. I do however make sure they are kept clean. You can not hurt a dog by using a cotton swab in their ears,( a dogs ears are shaped like a backward L), You would have to really dig to hurt them. So I clean them every so often. |
When Keeley was just a little guy our vet gave us ear drops to use. We don't use them too often, but maybe every month to every other month before his shower (it makes his hair around his ears greasy). I am not sure what "protocal" is tho-- |
We occassionally pluck Yoda's ears, but we do use some blue liquid for Yoda's ears. We got it from the vet and the name escapes me at the moment. After every bath, we squirt a bit in, and rub his ears for 5 seconds. It's supposed to keep away ear infections and make it so his ears don't stink, and it's worked ever since we've started using it. Oooh, found the name of it from a post in 2004. ;) --- Yes, we pluck Yoda's ears. Also, we clean out his ears with a cotton swab with Novacleanse. That's the best ear cleaning solution there is, but you can only get it at your vet! It smells great, whereas most ear cleaners sound like alcohol... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...t=ear+solution |
y pluck their ears? Why do some people pluck the ears? I mean if she has some crust on em I would just get a little q-tip and clean only the outside. Is that okay? |
You should pluck the hair from the ear canal with tweezers. The hair in the ear canal will trap bacteria, and that causes ear infections. You don't have to pluck ALL the hair from the inside of their ears, just the hair in the ear canal. Then we get q-tips dipped in alcohol and swipe it around in there to clean out all the dirt. Hobbs LOVES that part!! We do this about once a month. Otherwise, he will start growing ponytails out of those ears! |
