What Causes Bad Breath? Gizmo lately has gotten really bad breath &I am wondering if it is something I should be concerned about? I might be over thinking this way to much I just want to make sure it is nothing "serious" so I can have peace of mind, don't want any surprises.... They currently are eating California Natural Chicken & rice.???????? |
It good be a bad tooth, have you had his teeth checked lately? they might need to be cleaned. |
By the way he is almost 9 months in April... |
Retained baby teeth will cause this as will plaque buildup or a rotten tooth. |
that's right---to elaborate on what First Yorkie said, if not all the baby teeth fell out, the dog can get increased plaque buildup, and maybe even food caught in between the teeth. Your pup is at about the right age to be having this problem. A vet visit is probably in order--if some of the baby teeth remain, they should probably be pulled. |
my baby is 6 months now, he has a few loose teeth, changing colors but hanging on for dear life to his gums. and of late his breath smells like death. :( i really wish he'd eat doggie breath mints but he won't. he thinks its a toy. |
hmm. ok I will make a appointment with the vet, I am worried though because he is only 4.4 lbs,do you think he will be ok under anesthesia? |
The first step is to check with the vet and see if that really is the problem. THEN, worry about anesthesia. My guess is that he'll be just fine! Has he been neutered? If not, and IF he needs dental work, you could get them both done at the same time. |
Doggy breath Yuck! My little pup who is gonna turn 3 months soon sometimes has bad breath and sometimes she doesn't, but when it's bad it's bad smells like poop YUCK! Anyway I found a whole bunch of mint bones and doggy toothpaste I'm gonna try out this weekend on her, I hope she like one of the doggy products and I hope one of them works on her doggy breath!! |
Hobbs is getting fixed today and having baby teeth pulled. He is barely 3 lbs...I was so concerned about him going under anesthesia, so I sat down with the vet and asked tons of questions...all of them were answered and now I am at ease. He made it through the surgery with flying colors!!!! The vet said that it really doesn't matter how big or small they are....what matters is the dog's age. He said that what they do is weigh the dog, plug the dog's weight into the anesthesia machine, and then the machine gives the right amount of anesthesia. So, no worries! |
yep.....Baby Gene was the same way..bad breath...oh my! took her to the vet to get her teeth cleaned and she had to get 6pulled:( she did great tho...i just wish the people that had her before would of gave her the tlc she needed.. she looks like a new dog inside and out lol:) Baby Gene and momma |
