Soda? Should I worry if my pup had a few sips of soda? I was TRYING to relax online and he was playing right beside my chair with a small plastic bottle that still contained some soda in it. I didnt think much of it till I heard a funny noice...me thinking what the hell is that...could it be pissing? I do have 2 dogs but it sounded way weird to be peeing...I look beside me and there it was a big puddle starting but I think he managed to get a few licks before I was able to pick him up and put him in his crate to clean up. Saw him licking his lips. Well he managed to puncture a hole in the darn thing with his super teeth.. do they ever stop chewing everything in site including my lil fingers? :D |
I wouldn't worry about just a few sips. He probably loved it too. They can be such little stinkers. Mine loved to bite fingers. I tell him no and give him a toy instead. If you live with other people make sure they don't let him do it either. I had to tell people quite a bit that it wasn't a game and it wasn't going to be so fun when he was bigger. |
It should be fine if they only drank a little bit. They just love sugar but of course a lot of it isn't going to be good for them. As far as chewing, being stern helps, but try to give them an alternative, like a chew toy or a Greenie or something else they can chew on. |
Thanks for the reply! :) He seems fine so far I just thought maybe there was something in the soda that could be bad since I know coffee and chocolate is a no no. Yea it is difficult to get them not to bite your fingers. Atleast with mine it is. I'm currently trying the stern no and giving him one of his toys, it works sometimes but at times it seems he'll still prefer to go after my fingers or my slippers. Including my ankles(ouch). Another problem I have is brushing him. Any type of grooming is hard to do. He chases everything I put near or on him with his nose and mouth. grrr hopefully he'll outgrew this. Is there anything you could do to calm a pup while grooming?...I've tried giving him something to chew on...sometimes even a milkbone. The milkbone will work but doesnt last long enough for me to finish but when I give him a toy and attempt to brush, he does not fall for it. He surely aint dumb... :D I still dont know how groomers do it with pups. |
Those are great questions about grooming. I think it's just consitency and doing it every day. I would be curious to here what the groomers ay. Maybe they have some tricks that help. Other than the sugar, is soda bad for dogs? |
