any chance he'll stay a squatter? bunjee's 6 months old now and still a squatter when he pees. he was neutered at about 4 months old. any chance he'll stay a squatter? |
Eddie, at 20 months, still squats most of the time (don't tell anybody). I think a lot of them pick up the leg lift when they're around other boys. |

Biscuit is now almost 9 months and he still squats. Because he had a bad case of kennel cough when we got him, we didn't neuter him until his cough was completely gone and that wasn't until 6 months.....so there is hope! ;) |
I thought Chachi was going to stay a squatter because at 7 months when he was neutered he still squatted. He started lifting his leg about 8 months though. |
squatter What a good boy...don't let him around leg cockers for awhile. When I used to board, I had a few sweet, little squatters go home, "leg cocking man dogs"...I stopped allowing any to see my males peeing. |
I have a squatter.... I have 2 yorkies and one maltese...... My maltese was fixed at 5 months old so he never lifted and he still squats today....at 3 years old! My other yorkie boy was fixed after he was a year old..... and he still lifts and marks.... and he is 3 years old! And my last yorkie is a boy and a lifter and marker. My girls are all angels! Boys will be boys....... |
Tino is 4 and half months and I HOPE he stays a squatter, he did lift his leg on my mum's chair once  but he was only about 10 weeks old! I think/hope he forgot! :D |
Bailey does both,, sometimes he squats, sometime he lifts his leg.. Sometimes he does the COMBO,, half squat/ half leg lift.. it's funny. |
Oscar was neutered at 6 months and is a very undecisive little guy. He will start off squatting and them migrate into a leg lift. Sometimes he will just squat and sometimes he will lift his leg from the get go. But he never does it in the house! He stayed with a friend last week who has a Bichon who has developed a very bad habit of peeing in the house, but Oscar still did his business outside - she crated him during the day so she knows he went outside. He has not peed in my house in eons!!! He is a good boy...not sure what goes thru their minds with the squat versus the leg lift thing...funny little dogs they are!!! |
Mac is a part time squatter. He only lifts on walks at everysingle telephone pole, most of the time he doesn't do anything. He was neutered at 1 year. Before that he was a non squatter. I like it this way much better. :D |
Gage was a leg lifter until he had his manhood stripped away..LOL! I was afraid that because we had waited so long (he was 16 months old), he had already formed the habit of leg hiking and would always do that. I'm pleased to say that Gage is now a squatter :D Since I have a girl and a boy, and Gage is the "baby at 17 months (Gabby is 9), he has her as his "mentor" so, yorkie see, yorkie do!!! Suzi |
thanks for the responses everyone! so i think there's still hope! i'm really hoping he stays a squatter. potty pad clean up is so much easier that way. |
Hmmm, I'm the odd one out. At 5 months Spike is still squatting and I keep hoping he'll lift. He gets pee pee on his belly and it seems like if he'd lift he could kind of shoot it away. Guess I'm used to smooth, clean little girl bellies. He's never taken to the potty pads like Gracie did though. |
Leg Lift Buddy lifts either leg and squats too - he's very talented! He can even lift is leg and then swing it back and down to have a poop. It is too comical. |
