Aca I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I would like to know if The American Canine Association is a reputable association where you can register your dogs. I don't know much about this type of things but we bought Oscar from a petstore and they gave us papers to register him. I never payed attention and today going thru his vet files, found that he had been register or he had papers for my to send to ACA. I haven't research, but when I typed ACA on the internet it took me to a forum where it says that ACA is not a good association to register your dog. Thanks for the info. |
That's very interesting. Are you planning on breeding? If you don't plan to breed, there is no reason to register the puppy. And breeding a puppy bought from a pet store is probably not a good idea, since you have no idea of what his parents look like. |
Here is a great thread that hopefully would answer a lot of your questions. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...&highlight=ACA |

Oscarito past away in November, but only today I had the courage to put away his belongins, and as I was going thru his papers to file away I saw the ACA form that we needed to fill out,but we never did. It has the name of the breeder and the name of the dam and the sire and some numbers to look them up when we visit the website, but like I said before, we didn't paid attention to that. The more I research(which I've been doing that after I put away Oscar's belongings) the more I think my little baby came from a puppy mill and then sold to one of those big old nasty stores that don't take care of the puppies. I was so lucky to have Oscarito, he was my sweet little guy, my world and my everything. But that was the reason I asked. Just curiousity. :) |
I personally don't think there is anything wrong with ACA. They make any dog that don't have a pedigree do DNA to prove it's lines. I also like APRI they are very friendly and will always go out of their way to answer your questions. I have a couple of dogs that are AKC registered but when I breed them I am going to register the litters another registry than AKC. I don't like AKC they seem a little stuck up for my taste. :aimeeyork |
My girl is ACA. I personally can careless what registry is being used as long as the person I am dealing with is operating in a correct way and trying to and producing good quality pups. People just think that the AKC is the next best thing since soda pop was invented. :animal36 |
