Twinkie ate some rhinestones, should I be worried? So, sometime in the middle of the night, Twinkie stole one of Princess' necklaces off my nightstand and chewed the crap out of it. In doing so she chewed off some rhinetones. I could only find 8 of the 12 rhinestones in a pile - 1 of which was severely mangled. The other 4 rhinestones are missing so I am assuming she ATE them (they are about 2 mm in size). The rhinestones are GLASS since they are crystal - should I be worried that she ate glass??? Will it just pass through her system, will it hurt her? She doesn't appear to be in any discomfort, but I am worried anyways. :( |
I hope it passes.... Follow the Sparkling poops :) We've joked about expensive yorkies pooping gold nuggets....Twinkie will be pooping diamonds...if you feel really worried you should call the vet but they are probably very tiny. |
oh no! they sound small enough that theyd pass through, but if they are jagged or dont have rounded edges, id be pretty worried that they could cut her internally- not trying to scare you or anything. i would keep an eye out for them coming out the other end! im sure someone else can give you better advice!! hope all goes well and tell twink to lay off the crystals<3<3 |
When I took Cali to the ER vet Monday they did stomach Xrays and the showed me on the Xray where she had passed a small piece of metal. It was through her intestines and in the rectal area waiting to come out. I beleive it was a small rhinestone from my dtr's phone bling. It did not cause any problems, they thought she had eaten some string and that's why they did exploratory surgery. The rhinestone was encased in her poop so I don't think you will have a problem. I would never had even known if they didn't Xray. Good luck |
Thanks everyone, I checked her poop this morning, but nothing as it was probably too soon. So far no more poops but I will keep checking. I feel a lot better knowing they will probably not hurt her. |
