Help please! My 7 y/o Chewy is shaking! Hi ! I hope someone can help me figure what's wrong with my little girl. She is shaking, like she has chills. And she's not as active as she usuallly is for this tiime of day. I took her temp and it was 101.1, rectally, which is normal. I shaved her 2 days ago, because she had some matting that was bothering her and I couldn't comb it out. But I have kept a sweater on her since it's still cold out. And I shaved her littermate sister the same, and she is fine. Chewy doesn't show any other signs or symptoms. She's of course, had all of her shots and things like that. She went #1 and #2 this morning and it was normal. If anyone has any any suggestions or advice to give me I would GREATLY appreciate it. Of course, things like this always happen on the weekend.! :( |
Hi im sosorry to hear your baby isnt feeling well, but whenever mine shake or shiver I give them a little nutrical and it usually stops the shakes. Is she eating ok? Let me know what happens. Good luck hun. |
aww sorry to hear your baby isnt feeling very well<3 i agree to give her some nutrical and just make sure shes warm. just keep an extra close eye on her. i hope someone else is of more help to you, i really dont know what may be wrong with her<3 keep us updated! |
If you don't have Nutrical around in a pinch you can use Karo syrup, or a little bit of jam or jelly. Just make sure it's not grape.......... Sounds like her sugar level is low |
You've gotten some great advice!! Did anything traumatic happen that you may not be aware of? Did she maybe suffer a scare of some kind? My Angel would shake and shiver all the while my hubby was using power tools in the basement. Hope she's OK!! Good luck, and let us know how it turns out. :( |
Thanks, guys for all of your help! She ate some meat, which is a good sign. I didn't have any Nutrical and she doesn't like sweet stuff, in general. She really only likes meat. And, we covered her up with blankets and her sweater is on. She has stopped shivering, thank God. But she still won't get up. She hasn't experienced any kind of shock that we know of. My husband said maybe she fell out of bed and we didn't know it. I just don't know what to think. I'm going to try and take her out to go potty and see what happens. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again, people! |
Well, guys. I think she is better. I'm guessing she was just cold because of her extreme haircut. She's not shaking anymore, is resting on the couch with her sweater on and under a blanket. But she went out to potty and ran around as usual, so all is well, I hope. Thanks again for all of your help. :) |
yay! i'm glad she is feeling better. keep us updated on her progress :D:D:D |
Just found this article. Apparently, if your dog only started doing this (and you've never noticed it before - wouldn't hurt to visit a vet). And - if you're sure he's happy, healthy, and being his usual self otherwise - you may want to wait a day or two - wouldn't it be nice if it just went away!!! Carol Jean ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Trembling, Shaking and Shivering in Dogs Many dogs, mostly small breeds, tremble or shake for no apparent reasons. Most vets, when pressed, can think of obscure diseases that can cause such trembles but in most cases the dog tests healthy in every other area. Thus, no one has really been able to explain why some dogs shake and shiver even when they are warm and have no reason to be nervous. If your dog shivers excessively or suddenly starts shaking it may be cause to consult your veterinarian (as sudden onset can be a symptom of pain or a nervous disorder) but if full body shivering or a foot or leg that trembles is something you've noticed from puppyhood then your dog's shaking is probably nothing to worry about. Although not explained, it has been noted that trembling legs occur more often in terriers and white dogs. -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
