Harley is car sick in his new car seat! I am so disappionted, Harley got a new car seat and every time I have taken him in it he throws up. Poor baby, I guess looking out the window makes him sick. What now? |
Did Harley get carsick before he had his carseat? If not, and he was sitting low where he couldn't look out the window, maybe you need to, if you can, put it lower on the seat? I have heard they get carsick less if they can see out the window, but I guess this isn't the case with Harley! Hope you can figure this out so Harley can enjoy his time in the car and his new carseat! |
I am so bummed out. I have bought this dog everything from a car seat to a front carrier to a stroller. throws up in the carrier and fights to the death in the front carrier that you put on your chest. would rather die then get in that thing. my only hope is the stroller now. But, he loves to walk too. so I think I have wasted my money here. I think your right about lowering him down to the seat so he cant see out. and the suspended in the air to in that car seat, maybe if it is directly on the seat it will work. I feel so bad for him, he always wants to go with me too. But afraid to just let him run around in the car. He is only 5 pounds, just a little fart, to go flying if I slam on the brakes. |
My Pippa used to be sick in the car too but i found the lower she is the better and now shes never sick |
"Motion sickness" is caused by our eyes not seeing what we are feeling. Little children in the backseat often get car sick. They feel the rolling motion of the car, but from their vantage point, their eyes can't register or see what is causing these motions or movements. A quick cure for a child with car sickness often is putting them in the front seat and letting them look out the window. This allows them to see the road, curves, going up and down hills, etc. And, this makes what they feel more natural and expected. Is your puppy's seat in the front or in the back. I know my little pup rode in the back (on the seat) when I first got him and he did get car sick. After I got him a car seat (in the front seat) and he could see out the window, he was never sick again. I wouldn't doubt that some little pups (like some children) are much more susceptible to car sickness than others. I think that occasional short rides are what he needs now. Take him out and let him ride for only 5 minutes or so at a time. (Even when my little pup got sick - we could go a short distance before he did - he loves to ride in the car now and wants to go all the time.) Good Luck! Carol Jean |
Jewels gets car sick. I give her something to chew on in the car and it helps. |
Gizmo did not get car sick until I bought him a car seat, then he would get sick within about 2 miles. I took it back to Petsmart, they took it back knowing why I was returning it. They just did not put it back on the shelf. He now rides on the console, no more car sick. |
