Yorkie Eating Sheetrock Ok this is going to sound so strange but twe are having an issues with Bailey and chewing. When we first got Bailey we first had him in our bathroom with a wee wee pad, and his crate to sleep in. After the first week (10 weeks old) he had chewed the corner of the bathroom wall down to the metal posts. I was so frightened that he would get sick because of the paint but he did not. Bailey has not chewed on anything like this since then but last night he aparently got destructive and chewed right through the middle of our wall where his bed is in the evening. I can't understand why he does this. He has Bulley Sticks, Dingo Bones, Toys and various other things to chew on......why my wall!! I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced anything like this and / or if you have any suggestions, comments or thoughts. |
they are just little devils arent they... lexi ate the wall too.. the middle of it. how? i have no clue.... use clear deoderant on it.. it may help.. |
He got the middle of the wall because he was just laying in his bed and digging with his paws and knawing on it with his teeth. ERRRRR I'm so mad!! I will try clear deodorent but the probelm is he doesn't always chew the same spot. Can I paint deodorent on the walls?? lol |
Last summer Starr started digging and eatting the wood she dug up in one spot on our deck (a two inch hole now). She was eatting the paint in the peeling spots. We painted the deck and screwed a piece of wood over the hole. She kept trying to get at that spot. She finally (cross my fingers) has stopped. I don't know why they do these things...boredom perhaps? |
My last 3 dogs all ate holes in my walls with no reprecuusion except a mad mom! Cali did walls and carpet. |
devils.... all of them! Well.... not my yorkies..... they are all angels  yeah right! But actually... I have a teapot maltese that chewed up a corner of my wall...... I had to plaster and repair it just to have him do it again. But he grew out of it. I think he was teething..... but try bitter apples. Spray it on a few walls that he does like to chew..... the taste is suppose to make him hate it so he'll stop! Good Luck! |
My 7 year old Yorkie Pivo stripped every inch of wallpaper off of my parents' kitchen walls when he was a puppy... right up to the ceiling! |
After reading this thread, I will not complain anymore about Ceeby and Dixie almost eating thru my coffee table leg. :aimeeyork |

I bought a new wooden rocking chair, set it up late in the evening and woke to the rockers chewed up!! Now my rocker wears socks, (kind of late) even though they will pull the socks off the front rockers sometimes. I tried hot sauce too....my yorkies LOVE it. They were begging for more. |
The easiest solution is to not allow him access to walls when he is not supervised. You said he has a crate - put him in it. Or buy an x-pen. |

My brother's miniature american eskimo ate my parents linoleum floor overnight. Sticking up for his dog, my brother told my parents that he knew they wanted hardwood and was just trying to help out. |

That's so wierd then, I have no idea. Loki scratched up a small bit of carpet once - my husband thought he went after a bug. He also barks at the wall sometimes. Maybe Bailey heard something or saw something and tried to go after it?? |
