barrettes vs elastics ok so i bought some elastics and a barrette for snickers... just getting the barrette in for 5min was a HUGE challenge... what does everyone here use and how do they do it? lol maybe i am just a lil challenged in this area i did get the barrette in but not really sure how i would ever get an elastic in seeing the barrette took me 10min to get in and lasted 5min...lol! |
I use elastic and I tell Cali time for bow and she knows that she will get a treta if she sits still. It took a few weeks of doing it everyday for her to get use to it. |
I use elastic and barettes. |
I love the thicker rubber bands...the tiny ones you can find in the supermarkets...they seem to be easier to get out with my girls... IF I use a barrette...I do a band first...then the barrette over it...Like the little Sun Glass Barrettes in MY avatar...that has a band under them |

So fAR I FIND bands better but its still a hog tieing contest with Mini to get it in hahaha |
I was wondering how long do you keep there hair up in a band? I used to put one in Tessa and Tallys all the time and then I got to thinking hmmmmm if i keep my hair up or in a band for so long my head gets sore,so I stop putting them in, My question is do you think that their head gets sore or am i just being a silly mom. |
I just leave it in the hair for that day. If I leave it any longer her topknot gets tangled in the elastic and it pulls and I lose some of her hair. |
You can also use the small little clips. They work great, stay in good, and they aren't painful to the puppy. My dog hates rubberbands but doesn't mind the clips. If you use elastic clothe bands instead of rubberbands it is also more comfortable for them. I tried the velcro but they don't stay in. A good place to get them is Claire's Boutique in the mall. They have dog clothes and a great selection of bows. They also have a lot of sales. My question is if the hair isn't in a ponytail what are the alternatives? You would have to have the baby in a puppy cut? |

I put Brownie's hair up in a bow, but not for more than 3 days. After that, I use use some barettes for a few days (the small metal snap ones) and I just alternate until it's bath time again. |

I think it does bother them if you leave it in for too long. I don't know about yours, but As soon as I take of Gus's top know, he goes nuts rubbing his head and rolling all over the carpet. |
I just use scunci for kids, they are soo cute , and a pretty big selection @ Walmart, love them, and they are easy on their hair ! |

I agree, I have some really cute colored small rubber bands, I go to walmart in the infant section and they usually have a wonderful selection of baby bows and barrets! I love putting Kloeys hair in pig tails! |
