teeth cleaning for tinies.... Hello there.... my tiny little boy... BeeBee is 2.5 lbs but he is extremely difficult to groom. All my other dogs are very good but he just has a mind of his own. Truth is... I had difficulty trusting groomers so I wash and groom them myself..... but beeBee will not let me properly clean his teeth. My question is..... does anyone here with a tiny yorkie have had their yorkie put under for vet teeth cleaning. I know I need to do something soon but I am soooooo nervous about putting him under due to his size. Any advice? |
Yes, my little Raisin was the same size as well as Shaddow and they routinely went to have their teeth cleaned. Dennis is also 2 1/2 and will probably get his first cleaning at his next visit. It is always a concern to have them put under, and the first time is the hardest, but so far in all the years I have had no problem, though I am always upset and afraid till I get them back in my arms again. It is a necessary evil! |
Ckeck out this site www.petzlife.com for teeth cleaning products. One is for brushing and one is a spray. I don't know if they actually work or not. I did buy the product but my Jack is only one so his teeth are still white. Jack hates to brush and it's a struggle. I only try to brush 2 or 3 times a week and then I can only get the brush in for about 12 strokes on each side. I use the spray on other days hoping it works as well as the web site states. Just thought I'd pass this along as an option. |
My vet suggested taking a little piece of nylon like from old pantyhose and rubbing it gently along their gums and teeth. He said when they get a bit older he might suggest a toothpaste of some sort, but that should be enough to get them used to it. And Tank loves my fingers in his mouth...well when he can chew on them that is :) |
