Silky Terrier Has anyone ever heard of a Silky Terrier. They look alot like Yorkies but just bigger. |
my mom bought a "yorkie" 15 years ago and she ended up being a silky. Shes huge and has really big ears but we love her just the same. |
2lbs -130lbs, they are still cute, that's all dogs I think, I guess Ican say that since I have my 2lb yorkie who I love even if he was 18 lbs heavier and then I have 2 Rottie both over 130lb, I guess what am trying to say is regardless of how much they weight dogs are sweet & beautiful and yes a lot nicer than some people, I do have to say I agree that you need to speak to your vet about making unprofessional comments, thats like having a baby and the nurse telling you. I dont think this baby is your husbands  can u imagine, that was rude of him. but also remember no matter what. you are still going to lovr your baby no matter if he is 7lbs or 70lbs, you just can't measure the unconditional love they give us.. ( can you imagine a 70lb Yorkie) oh wait, my rotties act as if they weight 2 pounds. so yes I can imagine LOL |
Don't worry , In Canada , we have small and big Yorkies as anywhere else . |

Thank you I appreciate all of your feedback on this. I don't care what Stomper is, but I will assume he is a full breed - just a very BIG boy! Thanks again for all your feedback. |

There are different registration clubs out there: AKC, CKC, etc. It is very important to know which one your puppy has papers from. AKC papers are the only recognized papers for purbred dogs in the US. We bought a St. Bernard, and I know better! in Nov. The breeder assurred me that he had the papers submitted to the AKC and they would soon be to me. Well, AKC papers never came. I went back to check, and asked to see the DAM & Sire's papers- They were UKC, and CKC. I can never show Gabriel, nor can I register him the paper is worthless. When I put down my deposit on Feliz- My first requirement was to see the dam and sires AKC papers, before the purchase was arranged. We love Gabriel- the St. He will be with us for many long years. I have known and purchased from many dog breeders over the years- but I can tell you, I will never again trust on word because of what this St. breeder did. By the way, I paid the same price I would have for an AKC dog. He is beautiful- I was just disappointed, as wanted to do a CGC and a few other things with him. A lesson learned. deborah |
I have a girl she is AKC with CH. background and weighs 18 pounds. YES 18 big ones! :thumbs up The people I got her from didnt know why she was so big called it a fluke, and were very honest about how big she would get, She was 6 pounds at 6 months Who'd have guessed she would get this big but also she is spayed and "LOVES" her tummy :) WHAT A GREAT FLUKE SHE IS!! WOULDN'T TRADE HER FOR THE WORLD!! :good job: |
My girl bounces between 7-8 lbs. I watch exactly what she eats. She just had her first litter and the vet wants her to eat as much as she wants. she is now 9lbs and will probably gain more. Just as long as she is healthy and the pups are healthy I don't care. It is sad when others tell you your pup isn't a true Yorkie because they are bigger than standard :( It's a good thing they don't understand everything we say, or they might start having eating disorders. |
So in other words... a toy poodle, a teacup poodle, and a standard poodle aren't really poodles? People can be so crazy, I have seen 2 lb yorkies and a family friend has a 17 pound yorkie, but he is still a yorkie. He actually came from a 6 lb male and a 5 lb female... talk about Shaquelle yorkie O'neal!!! :) |
Poodles are classified in 3 official categories , if you are able , find the official categories for Yorkshire Terrier . There is just one . There is no such thing as Teacup , Miniature , Micro Yorkshire Terriers . |

Theres a picture in my photo gallary of my Yorkie, Zoey (5 1/2 months, 5.5 lbs) and my roommates Silky Jack (1 1/2 years, 20 lbs). Its a good picture to tell the difference between the two. The only difference is the size, at a few months old Zoey and Jack looked the same... I hope this helps some. Amy |
