Scared-D-yorkie? Hey everyone, I have been training Boss to go on the pads inside the house because its winter and too cold for the outdoors. Eventually I want him to go outside but today was a BEAUTIFUL day. It'salmost 75 degrees so I decided to just take him out. He's been outside with us before on a walk which ended up me holding him around the block while he shook like crazy. Well today he just sat on the back porch shaking and freaking out. My question is...is there any practices from mommies who had scared yorkie babies about getting them comfortable outside. I really want to take him to the dog park, but I put his harness on and leash and he just sits there. I know small dogs are scared of stuff, but I read YTs whose furbabies love the outdoors. I want Boss to be one of them. :idontknow Any ideas would be awesome. Thanks guys. |
I would love to read the responses to your post. I am having the same problem with my Dezi. She will not move and she shakes. :animal-pa |
It's funny because Georgie goes outside in the backyard and runs around, but hates going on his leash for a walk...he just lays there so I end up holding him as well. Everyone tells me just to continue to try and walk him and encourage him with a treat (okay bribe him really:). I do take him out with his harness on and sit on the ground and play with him and console him to let him know it's okay. Best of luck with your babies. :animal-pa |
lexi was like that too when she was a baby, give them time, they will come around. they just have to get used to it thats all...dont worry, just be patient. |
:thumbs up Thanks everyone. I'm just going to ease him into it and def. be patient! |
I'm sure, before long, he will want to be outside whenever he gets a chance! I agree...ease him into it. I never had that problem because when I trained Maddie, she wouldn't go on a potty pad, so I had to take her out...even in the frigid cold! So, she was pretty much used to the great outdoors once spring came along! I'm sure Boss will love it once he gets a taste of it! Love that name...too cute! |
