Help With Pedigree

I just got Taz's 3 generation Pedigree in the mail and Im totally confused lookin at his Great Grandparents the stud is the same does this mean there was in breeding or is that line breeding I have included it so please have a look and any info will be much appreciated. Sorry its fuzzy I cant get it to load the regular size its to large.

Looks to me that Taz's grandparents on his dad side were half brother and sister. They are not suppose to do that. JMO

Taz's dad is Ravishing Regginauld Huston. Ravishing Regginauld's parents (Taz's grandparents) are Renegade Hankins and Carrie Hankins. These two dogs are half brother and sister because they have the same dad..Romeo Hankins.

Does your male and female have a common back ground?

Half brother/half sister would be considered inbreeding, most inbreeding is to intensify a strong point, although it can back fire intensifying faults.

Line breeding is granddaughter/grandsire or uncle to niece producing consistancy in a litter.

Whoops, you're right. For some reason I thought you were saying the grandparents were the ones bred together. :rolleyes:

No they are from seperate backgrounds and seperate parts of the state.

Then you should have no concerns.

I am sure many of the Real show breeders here can give you their input on inbreed and line breed, reasoning and results.

This is just a pet pedigree and nothing about it is line or in breeding.

Even though the Great Grandpa Romeo was the same for for both Shadow and Tazz?

Even though I would not do this, this practice happens often. Half brothers and sisters, father to daughters. I believe its called line breeding.

I have an appoint at the vet so they can look at it and say for sure. It's going to be like 2 yrs b 4 I even thought about breeding them but I wanna know for sure

Could you please elaborate on this? If two dogs share the same father and those two dogs were bred together, why wouldn't this be considered inbreeding or line breeding? :confused:

no, what you have described here is inbreeding. My hubby does Line breeding and what it means (at least to us) is that the dogs come from our line,, Indian Hills, It may be far away but is from our line and can be traced back to our first Field Champion, Indian Hills Majer from about 25 years or so ago. father/daughter, brother/sister and that close, is NEVER bred in our kennel. That is most definitely inbreeding and all kinds of bad things happen when you do that.

Okay, I just consulted my hubby. Anything closer than uncle/neice is INBREEDING. Further back is LINE BREEDING

The info here is accurate up to a point. In-breeding does mean close relatives such as same generation or back only one -such as daughter to father. Daughter is gen #1 and her father would be gen #2. Further back than that is called line-breeding but they still mean that relatives have been bred. It is just how close the relationship is. JMO
Your vet will not be the best source of info about pedigrees. There are some things that a pet owner needs to ask an experienced breeder and this is one of those instances. JMO
I just read back over this post, and I don't make a whole lot of sense, do I? Anyway, the pedigree for Taz does show some breeding to relatives, but since this is a pet pedigree, I would not worry about it. If, you are planning to use Taz for breeding, then the other parent should not be related to Taz. Show breeders and those who have studied the genetics of a line can breed relatives quite successfully because they have a specific goal and have researched the best genes to use to reach that goal..

Ok I get it now Sugar and Taz are in no way related. I was just concerned that his Great Grandpa was on both sides but I see that it's ok. Thank You all
