canine dog playpens OK I got a question for anyone who uses a playpen.... Chloe has a few of them, I thought they would work great inside and out. I couldn't keep her in it. Do anyone of your babies climb out as well? Right now I took her 2nd playpen panels apart, I bought "s" hooks from home depot and attached a 2x2 panel on top of each section to keep her inside safe while I am at work. She had been sitting pretty on the end of the couch to greet me and I had no idea how. I had to lie in the dark to find out how she was getting out. She thinks she is a cat!!!! nShe climbs to the top, one step at a time, then balances before she jumps. My heart stopped, all I could see was broken legs or head. She never gets into any trouble when she was getting out, but I feel better when I must leave because I know she is safe and not hanging by a leg of laying broken. (especially since I saw her get out that night) What would I do if she chewed on a cord or something was another thought. I think my solution might be my best bet since I can't think of anything else. Can you? P.S. I tried yorkie proofing an extra bedroom but she yells like a baby lamb and gets so upset, I think because she can't see out. I also do not want her to learn to claw the doorways. I thought of a 20 foot lead in the livingroom but what if she choked or hung? Am I a overly nervous Yorkie Mom? |
Wow, an escape artist! Cali is 8 1/2 months old and still has never gotten out of her playpen, which I can't believe since she is quite the climber. I wouldn't tie her up that could be dangerous. i know some other people on here have had the same problem and hopefully one of them can help you. |

Cali just has more respect for your rules then my Chloe has for mine! :D And I was hoping readers here would realize I meant climbing out, not jumping. I foudn it hard to try and explain the situation in here. Thanks FastEdie for telling me how :) |
What about... -Turning the playpen upside down so she is completely surrounded -Attaching a baby gate to the top of the play pen -Putting a fitted crib sheet on top of the play pen (I do this with my daughter in her pack and play) That's all that I can think of now..... Good luck to you and your little escape artist!!! |
Patti, I know what you are talking about. Gizmo climed out of his at about 12 weeks old. Just like a cat, climbing up the side of it, one paw at a time. I just quit using it. |
