Chloe smiles also, not always on command but she smirks too (especially when she sees the comb coming out instead of the brush or hats - she hats hats. (the smirk looks like a crocked smile or frown - it's like a hey you, don't bother me look) I have a picture of her doing "the look" but no scanner/I can't get the smile picture in print yet tho |
Smiling! :D Quote:
Cute! I wish I had taken a picture of one of mine when they smiled. Never thought of it. And now I do not have any that do smile. It was so cute... And when I would say what have you done??? They could tell I was not happy and would smile at me. How cute was that! But maybe someday I will get another that does. :) |
1 Attachment(s) Those smiling yorkies are so cute and what a fun thread! How do you go about teaching your yorkies to smile on command? I'd like to teach Maddie. Here's the best smile pic I have of her... |

That shot of Rowdy is one of my ALLTIME FAVORITE Pictures on this site..... Goooooooooo Rowdy and show those choppers boy ! lol - I love that picture so much ! For anyone wanting to learn...you need a TON of eye contact...and say the word SMILE OVER AND OVER....at the same time - lift up their upper lip gently with the motion of a smile....Chanel learned in 4 days.....My husband was in the hospital when I taught her and didn't believe me till he saw it for himself.. Now he asks her to smile every day and she does it on command. It's FANTASTIC ! Besides kissing for hours...it's her best little trick |
I'm going to have to try teaching Madison that!!! I had NO idea that you can teach a dog to smile - that is soooo much fun!! I cant wait to start after work this afternoon!!!! :D |
If you can try a little every day and you have GREAT eye contact with your yorkie and they listen intently to you...you CAN do this. Show him your smile as you say the word too - that helps ....and just do it for about 5 minutes per sitting. when I taught Chanel - she was 2 years old and caught on so quickly cause she loves to hear me laugh...When I saw her try to smile I clapped and laughed my butt off....the more laughs she got the harder she tried till one day she lifted that top lip all the way up and I saw every tooth in her little mouth. Now she smiles ALL the time and knows exactly when to use it too. |
Fiona smiles. I noticed it one day when we came home from town and she was wiggling all over the place and had her lips pulled back all the way and you could see all her teeth! She smiles when she is super excited or when we get home from being somewhere or when she knows she gets to go for a car ride. :animal36 |
Mac and Mellie both smile, they also make a lot of weird faces. However I have a had enough time getting pictures of them sitting still, I don't think I will ever get a picture of them smiling. :D |

Lyric doesn't smile yet, but yesterday we finally seen his sad face. His daddy left a big bag of shredded paper out just in his reach, so when we got home from the dentist, yeah we had a nice surprise!! His daddy tried to act mad, and Lyric got the SADDEST little face. As soon as he flashed that face he was given kisses and kisses from his daddy. I personally think he just knows how to win  But I think his little personality faces are starting to develop and I'm really excited!! :) |

I never had to teach my yorkies, they just did it. But then we would says "smile" to them, while smiling of course, and eventually they would smile on command. But rarely while sitting still enough to take their picture. |
Princess always smiles, She's one happy little girl!!!! :D :D :D |
