What to do after surgery???? This is the first time that i had a male yorkie (Harley) and he is getting fixed today, i know i have to restrict his activities, is there anything else i can do to make him comfortable for the next couple days until he gets his stitches out? |
Just make sure your little one has a nice soft warm bed and that you have a quite place for him. You will be surprised how fast they bounce back from the surgery. The first night they will eat and drink a little and then go back to sleep but usually the next morning they are ready to go. :) |
surgery thank you, that was the hardiest thing i had to do this morning was drop him off at the vets.. My poor little girl Haley is so lost without him, she is crying up a storm :( |
Poor Haley - she wonders where her friend is :( I am sure when you bring Harley home she will smell him all over and watch over him. You will just have to be careful no rough house after the 1st day. You will be surprised how Harley will want to play..just be careful no jumping down from bed, couch or chair. These little goobers have no fear :D |
I have pet stairs - do you think it will ok for him to sleep with us tonight or should we sleep on the floor with him? I know i feel like crying - she keeps scratching at the door - like she is telling me Harley is still outside go get him :( |
Usually and not always they are just out of it so I have always keep them in the bed by me in the family room and then when I went to bed I brought them into my bedroom (I picked up the whole bed with them in it) and put it by my bed on the floor. Never heard a peep out of them. Maybe if your little one cries to get into bed I probably would put them in my bed with their bed so they have a little padding around them and are not bumped in the night. I am really a sucker for letting them sleep with me and I am not a hard sleeper so I wake up if they start moving around. |
When we get home i'll put him on the bed in the kitchen, so i can at least give him some water, and see if i can get him to eat something, and when we go to bed i'll take his whole bed with us and put it on the bottom of the bed so i can keep an eye on him, Thank you for your help... i'm just a worried Mommy,, |
Good luck with your little Harley! I'm sure he'll do fine and it's probably harder on you than it is on him. A lot of us on YT have gotten onesies for them to wear after surgery, so they can't lick their stitches. I used them for Maddie...just got the newborn size and cut a little hole for the tail. They are a lot more comfy than those collars! |

A good, loving Yorkie mommie always worries. It is our right and responsibility to do it. So, just know that you have a lot of company in the worry thing and a lot of support when you get the little balless oy home. I do the same thing with the bed..I let the sleep in their own bed so I can move them around without actually moving the baby.. You and your kids will be fine tonight, but worry all you need to. We will be here for you.. |
Good luck with your little male when you bring him home. When we brought Chachi home he didnt even act like he had just been through a surgery. Our hardest thing with him was slowing him down. |
