Warning !! I just had thre most scary experience. I occasionally give my dogs Petrodex Dental chew sticks for their teeth. All of them were sitting around me eating them when suddenly Bandit starting going crazy and rubbing his head on the bed, etc. I picked him up and of course he fought me. I knew he had a piece of the stick caught just did not know where. Seemed like he was breathing ok but could not get it dislodged. Called my Daughter, who lives around the corner, and she came right over. Checked and the thing was lodged up against his pallete. We got somne tweezer thing and she was able to get in his mouth and dislodge it. Damn I am still shaking like a leaf. But thank G_d he is fine now. Just do not know what is safe for them. sigh |
OMG, how scarey for you and for Bandit. Kricket did the samething the other day with a little twig from outside. She was chewing it and it got stuck between her top teeth across her palette. That was soo scarey!!! Glad Bandit's better now :) |
How scary for both you and Bandit. I am so glad that all is well. Thank you for the reminder that chews are dangerous! |
I had that happen to a little dog with a stick years agoe, so now I only give them half sticks of anything, but then there is the worry of them choking when it gets too small. What's a mother to do??? There's always somethiing to worry about. |

Yes, choking is always major worry with anything....I feel so badly....soft treats are no good for them either..... Thanks for writing. |
I am so glad Bandit is okay. I had a bad experience with Boda Bone. I've stopped giving my babies thinks like that. I do still give them beef bully sticks and the original milk bones,& a small piece of cheese, but no other treats. Give Bandit a hug for me. He is adorable! |

OH MY GOSH! Thank God he is ok! You got really lucky!! And thanks so much for sharing that story with us!! |
Thanks for the warning and I'm glad he's ok! |
How scary for you. I'm glad everything turned out OK and thanks for the warning. |
I'm glad everything is much better now. I just went to the vet this weekend for a normal check-up and I asked my doctor about Greenies. This is a very well known animal hospital here in CA and she says that they no longer recommend them to people. She says they do countless surgeries to remove lodged Greenies. |
