how soon can females go into heat after their first My yorkie had her first heat in december and I figured her next one would be may or june however my male has suddenly become very interested in her again. Can she be going into heat again this soon and is my male's interest an accurate sign? |
Anything is possible, But usually if a female goes in to heatr at 6 months then her next cycle will be 6 months later, 7 months old, next one 7 months later.. and so on. |
So, would that probably mean that if Mia went into her 1st heat at 1 yr then she wouldn't have another until almost a year later? I keep waiting and watching and nothing yet....it's been since the end of July. TIA |
I'm no expert but... I've heard that most dogs will go into their next heat within about 6 months, depending on breed(size)and a few other factors like having other female dogs in the house.I would not have noticed the first time tika went into heat as she didn't bleed, it was my male that was suddenly very interested! He's starting to follow her around sniffing at her all the time, she's not too impressed lol.I plan on breeding her when she goes into heat again but not to my male as he's a little too big. |
Most dogs have 2 heats a year. so one every six months. However, I've heard for dogs having 3 a year. So you could probably be safe to figure anywhere from 4 to 7 months |
Usually they go into heat every 6 or 8 months. Maybe your male is just getting excited thinking about it...I'm joking here. Anything is possible and I have heard of this before just never experienced it myself. |
