Going outside!!! I know a lot of you have fenced yards - I don't. So, I have always been worried about taking my pup outside. And, when I have, it's been on a leash that gives her some room to run, but not a lot. So - I went and bought 100 feet of clothes line and fastened it to her collar. I just have to tell you that "my puppy has gone wild." She literally runs her heart out. And, what is great is that she almost never even goes to the end of this long line before she turns around and starts going in another direction. Plus - she honestly doesn't seem to even know that she is attached to anything. She just goes "running crazy!!!" ---and never get tangled! What fun we are having. I'm sure she ran two miles today while I was standing and talking to my neighbor. We certainly enjoyed watching her have fun. I wish I had thought to do this months ago - darn! Carol Jean |

I was thinking about doing the same thing for Gracie, I am so glad that you posted this! Clothes line sounds like a fab idea!!!! (I was wondering what to use! ) :thumbs up :bravo: |
Clotheslines are great - because they don't cost much - they are long (different lengths) - and they are lightweight so that the puppies can run around and not even know they're there. Also - my neighbor reminded me that if the pup should ever get loose with this long line attached - it would be no problem to catch her. You could pick up the line so far away from her that she wouldn't even be paying any attention. So - we have died and gone to heaven at my house!!!! Carol Jean |
Just a word of caution. I use to have my Gracie on a long te out when I was out with her and she would chase a soccer ball all around, but I had a collar on her , before I knew to use a harness and when she would get to the end of the rope she would kinda jerk back. She died at 6 1/2 years with a severe collapsed trachea and Icannot help thinking that this contributed toit. So I would use a harness instead of a collar. I was just looking at long tie out for Cali to use with her harness the clothes line seems like a good idea. |

Thanks - we were planning to go harness shopping this Saturday. My pup is 6 months old - and, hopefully, will be able to wear any harness I get him for more than a week or two. He certainly has quickly outgrown everything else I have bought for him. Thanks again - Carol Jean |
