Bows and Hair Accessories This question might sound silly but what types of bows do you find work best? So far i've only purchased bows with rubberbands and i have a hard time putting them on. I also fear that i might be hurting her. not to mention they come right off. Is there a beter way to do this? I'm a new mommy so i'm not very savvy with a lot of procedures yet. :) Oh!...and again, (I've asked before but don't think i got an answer  ) How long does it take to grow a yorkie's hair? when i got my girl she was already groomed (the hair on her body is really short, the hair on her head is a bit longer) (she kind of looks like a lion to me :p LOL so cute :D Thanks! Honey's Mommy :) |
I buy the tiny rubberbands they use to braid horses manes, I still have to twist it like 3 times and Pita hates it but she can't get it out! then I put the bow or something over it. |
Oh! so do you always have to use a rubberband even if your using a hair clip? |
I do, but Pita doesn't have much hair to hold in a clip, maybe when she gets more hair it'll be different, When I used to do my 2 daughters long hair in ponytails I always put non slip rubberbands or elastics on before anything decorative. |
Thanks for the tip taje! I think my girls hair probably needs to grow out a little more also. maybe that's why the rubberbands come off so easily. :( |
I found that using the baby bows from a dollar store work really well over an elastic in the hair. They are velcro, so they won't stay in long, but I sometimes remove the velcro and sew on elastics. You can get about 10 really nice bows for $1. Also, there was another thread around here somewhere with a great picture showing how to put the elastics into the hair before and after the bow to lock it on. |
that's a geat suggestion Cairos Mom! I'll have to try that. Your baby looks really cute! how old is she? |
mini clips My Artie hates the rubberbands because they pull out his hair. I use mini clips not the barette type, but they are for little girls I found them at "Claire's" or any Mall usually has a Hair Accessory Store, I've even found them at Target in the Baby section. :aimeeyork |
She'll be 16 weeks this saturday. She was 11 weeks in that picture. |
We purchased bows that were on elastic bands already made up on ebay. Our Gracie does not like them in her hair at all. I did purchase the velcro bows from the dollar store and those don't stay in very good. I also purchased the small plastic bow barrets for little kids. These are much easier to get on because you can snap them pretty quick. Anyway, it is always a taks to get a bow ect. in her hair. Heather & Steve :animal-sm |
There are so many pictures here at yorkie talk that show your babes very well put together with thier bows and stuff. Do the groomers supply the hair accessories when you take you dogs in? HOW DO YOU DO IT!?!? my girl is pretty calm and doesn't mind wearing clothes -- but I still cant seem to get the darn things to stay on!!! I'll have to try the baby burrettes - i haven't done that yet. :) |
Bows & Clothes I have a male Yorkie and he loves to wear his clothes; Bath robes, turtleneck sweaters with mink trim, rugby shirts, chinese silk brocade coat, ski sweaters. He has a long coat so whenever we leave the he has to have his bangs put into the mini-clips that I mentioned earlier. That signifies to him that we are going "Bye". What he wears depends on the whether and where we are at since we travel between Boston and Florida? It's extreme changes for him so the clothing does serve the purpose of warmth. My point is with anything and everything you have to start when they are young, regardless of their sex male or female. When you first try anything for the first time, clothing for example I will only leave it on for 5 minutes or until the manage to take it off themselves which ever comes first? Then I will build up to a longer time each time I put it on. It's easy....he is so used to it sometimes he picks out his own outfits. Keep trying, mine is happy to wear them he hears me laugh so he thinks that that's what he's supposed to do. Good Luck :D |
